Workout Poundage BS - Page 2

BS - I am short and stout (which usually translated into pretty high weights) and back when I was really into it I would curl with 2 hands 65 kilos. I find it pretty unbelievable that anybody would do almost that with one hand, who wasn't a total freak.

Tell me about it. My arms are really skinny; muscular, because they have no fat, but skinny none the less. Luckily at least my legs are super built (due to genetics and an insane amount of biking / running on the tread mill).

Agreed.
I've always been a big fan of getting form right as that way you minimize injuries/accidents. Getting the exercise right means you're working the muscle more so than if you were cheating (and using other areas of the body to help).

The thing about lifting heavy weights is where you muscle attaches to bone. The farther from the joint, the stonger you will be. It is annoying as hell to some marty armed guy outlifting me, but that's the way it goes.

But are we concerned with shape or is it pure strength? Personally, shape, flexibilty and endurance are key. Outlifting the next guy in not really my goal. Also, some of these tards in the gym have the tecnique of an orangutan. Strict form is essential for both strength and building shape. it is a wonder some of these meatheads are not tearing muscles on a regular basis.

I've had good luck lifting heavy weights for low reps. My form is pretty tight though. I have seen other people have good luck with lighter weight and more reps.

I am able to maintain a pretty good 6/8 pack and muscle mass with no cardio and 3-4 45 minute sessions per week. Diet is not particularly clean, but I avoid processed carbs and sugars like the plague, though I do drink regularly.

People are usually pretty surprised to see me attach a few 45's to my waist and grind out 5 solid pull-ups.

yeah but isn't a concentration curl by definition a large ROM?

It is in my book but at my gym others are apparently using a different book.
