A running compilation of well-liked brands for slim-fitting casual top garments, be they button-down shirts or sweaters. Not so much tees or polos - that could be a whole 'nother thread.

3sixteen
Band of Outsiders
Ben Sherman
Bonobos
BTNS
Comune
Descendent of Thieves
Epaulet
J. Crew
life/after/denim
Original Penguin
Rogue Territory
RRL
Taylor Stitch
wings + horns
Wolf vs Goat
*Banana Republic

*While it can be hit-or-miss from one garment to the next, the fits and patterns are good and it's not something to slap out of somebody's hand if he's found one that works, even if it's sharing the list with some very good company.

My disclaimer - Longtime lurker that I am, I've searched quite a bit for evaluations of casual-shirt brands on this site. Some of the listed brands are likely the product of some of those searches, but I haven't seen a thread where SF tried to compile them into one spot. Lots of requests, no central thread to point them to. Still, if you dig one up and feel compelled to point me to it, I'll make a note of it for purgatory.

I'm hoping a central list will help put somebody into a nice set of clothes they otherwise wouldn't have known existed. It's worked for me in the past. For range, I framed it between Banana Republic and wings + horns. ~$200 is up there for a casual button-down, but better to list it and catch it on a deal than bypass it. Testimonials or more brands for the list - if you've got 'em, post up and I'll update.

Not off to the most auspicious start, but I'll keep the list updated. Who knows - if somebody runs across it and it's useful to them, then I'm happy.

There are a few brands I've heard a bit about but have no personal experience with. Any SFers have a word on the below?

Club Monaco?
Massimo Dutti?
Jachs?
United Dry Goods?
