My first AEs

I stopped by the Shoemania store in Union Square to kill some time and noticed that they carried AEs. They had the McLains on sale for $150 in both black and Chili. Unfortunately, they didn't have the chili in my size (10D) so I opted for the black and I must say that these shoes feel very solid. I am a long time Cole-Haan wearer and have had problems with breaking them in (around the ankles) but these AEs feel great from the start. I am beginning to understand why they get so much love here.

Does the width of the shoe stretch out at all once you break them in?

Broadway and 14th. I posted about this a week ago in the Manhattan alert thread. They look quite nice in black. Shoemania has a number of locations so you may be able to find your size elsewhere.

Thanks. Missed the post. I always thought Shoe Mania is all about plastic shoes and square toes. Shows my ignorance!

And to the original poster, great job. You got a nice shoe at a nice price.

I don't know the exact adress but it is the one right next to Whole Foods in Union Square NYC. I believe I may have picked up the last pair od 10D in black but don't know about other sizes. I think there are several Shoe Mania locations in the city.

Nope, that's ShoeMania for you. They carry about 6 AE styles at a time and discount some of them to around 50% off at the end of the season. Also, they're a good source for cheap sneakers during the sales.

Welcome to the A-E cult, of which some would say I am the Exalted High Priest!

You shouldn't have much need for breaking these shoes in, nor should you encounter any appreciable amount of stretching.

I trust you got good shoe trees for them and are going to give them adequate rest and rotation. They deserve both. Do it and they will serve you well.

Huh..I'll have to check that out. Shoemania never struck me as a place that carries AEs. Has anyone checked out Burlington Coat Factory (on 6th) lately? I was there a couple months ago and they had some AEs as low as $90 if I remember correctly.
