Anything an amex gold does, you can get with a platinum. It's a great program....and yes, it works just like that. Up to 3 times a year, up to $300 each time, they will give you back the purchase price, and they will take back the unreturnable item....basically no-questions-asked. That's how you get your money's worth out of the $450 / year membership fee

Not that I know of, but if you purchase on Amazon you'll get a lower price and ostensibly the right to return. The Amazon selection nearly completely overlaps the goods available on the HF site.
