From last month. All my clothes are in freight across the Pacific. I'm living this last month in shorts and polos.

The bottom button is a nice subtle touch.

Apologies for the poor lightning. Love the challenge so I had to contribute.

Rules Broken

1. Orphan suit jacket
2. Orphan suit pants (patterned)
3. Cutaway collar with odd jacket (Some school of thought say they are too formal)
4. Suede shoes in the summer. Lol@rule :D
5. Matchy Matchy (Tie, square and shoes)

Not a rule but very anti-SF
6. 5 year old Gucci Blake constructed shoes still in excellent condition. The horror! :D

@Cleav, if you don't object, I'd like to enter the following fit as my challenge entry rather than yesterday's. Yesterday's was more about trying something obviously incongruous, while today's is a more reflective attempt to "break" the rules while maintaining coherence.

Rules broken:
Northern lights
Matchy-matchy bordered square
Wholecut shoes with sportcoat
Shirt and SC in similar patterns

Rules broken:
Jeans with a jacket and tie; rear tie blade visible; I am not, and have never been, an Argyll and Sutherland Highlander; rustic belt with jacket and tie; no CYA with this blazer and these jeans; no socks with my tasseks.

Cleav, I must admit that I am somewhat disappointed by your entry. At least in the picture, these just look to be typical mid-gray trousers. Had you said nothing, I doubt anyone would know they're part of a suit. Now, had you grabbed some pinstriped pants from a suit...

I have faith that you can transgress more egregiously while remaining tasteful.

Depending on your POV, I am breaking some firm-ish rules and other more obscure ones here. I am also violating one or two of my own home-grown rules.
  • The greatest affront is perhaps too many solids together - the suit and tie both have a very faint pattern but appear solid from any distance
  • Black tie in the office (debateable, of course but I don’t do it)
  • Single button suit jacket
  • Socks are not OTC, but rather very tedious Polo RL, falling just short of full hose (this breaks my own rule for business attire) and whoever invented socks of that length should be shot
  • Trousers are supported by a belt
I’m not sure about the general view on French cuffs in the office and this could be another rule-breaker…

Perhaps. If I wear an odd jacket tomorrow, it will, by definition, be rule-breaking because I have only French-cuffed shirts.
