I do like those grey DBs ... but when and where I was a youth, desert boots identified one with subculture - usually paired with tight black jeans, a mullet and an AC/DC tshirt, which is the only thing holding me back from getting a pair for myself now. And the 'Chelsea boots' and other Blundestone/RMW type elastic-sided shoes I see on this forum were worn by the farm kids with flannel shirts. Doc Martins were, of course, worn by several middle-class subcultures. And here endeth my Ancient History lesson on long-forgotten Australian Youth Subcultures that no one cares about!
