I've been doing my custom-tailored shirt ordering from Maxwells over the last year, which was initially based on a friend's recommendation and with the last order received having taken 4 months from order to receipt, I thought I'd give Jantzen a test run with a one-shirt order to test the service and end-product.

Just thought I'd register on these forums since I've been a lurker for so long and share my experience so far.

* August 22, 2007 - Order made.

* September 1, 2007 - Received email from Ricky regarding the fabric no longer being available.

* September 2, 2007 - Sent reply email with new fabric and requested update to postal code as the one I had entered during the ordering process was incorrect. Requested a confirmation email.

* September 8, 2007 - Confirmation email received acknowledging updated postal code and new fabric choice.

I have to admit, considering what I've read here, I'm really impressed with how promptly Ricky has gotten back to me. If I get this shirt in a fairly timely matter and the fit works out, I'll have no problem sending my next order for half a dozen shirts through Ricky instead of Maxwells. I'll keep y'all posted.

I ordered my shirt back in April. E-mailed Ricky a few weeks later. Still nothing...not even a peep.

I've always considered ordering, since the price is right and the quality seems more than adequate. Yet, I have some questions regarding options. Firstly, what is the difference between form and tight fit? Have any of you ordered using any of these fits?

Secondly, has any ordered a shirt with a box back pleat? Does it go all the way down to the hem (good), or does it fade (not good)?

I pick tight fit which ends up just right for me.

I think his default back boxpleat is a half fade, but I specifically request it go all the way down to hem if the shirt has a boxpleat.

I have yet to get an email concerning my order. Don't have the order details in front of me. Am planning to follow-up next week.

FWIW.

My shirt came in today's mail. It's in the wash right now, and I play to wear it tonight.

Despite my card being charged on 24 August I still have not received mine. I am starting to get nervous.

Of course I have e-mailed but that is as useless as ever. And since calling usually ends with being hung up on, I am not sure even how to enquire...

For those that make followup orders, do you start from scratch each time, or do you reference the previous order and just make note of the minor tweaks?

I had a quick question regarding fit.

A box pleat all the way to the hem will always be tighter than a non-pleated shirt, correct? So if you order a shirt with box pleat to the hem, tell him you want it "tight", and one with a plain back, but also "tight", what will the difference be?

ordered: 8.13

confirmed: 8.22

received: 9.19

definitely a pleasant surprise, and fit is spot on for 1st order! just a slightly cheap feel to the fabric. will definitely order again, and for $40, this cannot be beat!

it's common IME for Ricky to not charge until weeks after I've already gotten the shirt
