Also, is their linen any good?

Not a fan of their linen. It feels really heavy and limp.

Ditto. But one of the shirts I ordered was unclear in the online pic and I gambled by ordering it - bad move.

Im also reluctant to start over again, but if it means a more convenient website and much better service, I'll do it. Plus the ability to actually see and touch some fabrics when mytailor stops in DC is a huge plus. I think Ive just talked myself into it.

Understood - thanks. I may try calling Ricky, but may also see these guys when they visit next. However, given that the general consensus seems to be to go with their TM cloth, they are actually not that much different from Chan in terms of pricing. I may just have Patrick make me a few shirts next time as well.

You're talking about mytailor, right ? (when you say 'these guys')

Correct. It's interesting how many people comment that Jantzen's construction is at least on par - if not better - than mytailor's though.

Placed an order from Jantzen about a month ago. No response.

Found moderntailor. Placed order. Had shirt in ten days after placing order.

Moderntailor fabric was 2ply $59.99 and is FAR BETTER than anything I have ever gotten from Jantzen (fine euro cotton or whatever). Construction quality is the same or better.

I will not order from Jantzen again.

Got my shirt today (technically yesterday). I think I have finally zeroed in my measurements. I will know for sure once the shirt is out of the wash and ironed.

Any idea what is the yarn count of the European Fine Cotton shirts from Jantzen? Is it 100s 2ply?

I doubt it. Maybe 1 ply 50s at best, if not a synthetic blend.

I would take their assertions like "european cotton," "100s," etc., with a grain of salt.

But are the fabrics all cotton? Almost certainly. A while back, I dissected the nastiest one I've ever gotten [the pink "oxford" on the wiki] and burned a piece of it. Definitely not polyester.

Not sure I agree. I have some 80s from Skip Gambert in NJ and the Jantzen Fine Cotton seemed to be finer.

Wow - not only can you tell the super count of a cotton fabric, you can also tell the ply count and material composition as well? And just by feeling it too! It must be amazing to have such skills.

Not trying to argue with you... I haven't seen the shirt you ordered from Modern Tailor so I cannot comment on it. However, I ordered three shirts from Modern Tailor and the construction was not only far worse than Jantzen, I believe that was the worst construction of any dress shirt I've ever seen (at least since I joined SF and started looking at this stuff). Jantzen is far from perfect but I find their construction to be good.
