Hi!
I am really confused on how a dress shoe should fit initially.
The last pair (Cole Haans) I bought fit pretty well at 9.5 for me (initially I don't remember, but I remember it feeling comfortable), my feet measure a bit under that. For reference my dress shoe size is 9.5 usually.
I bought these shoes: http://www.amazon.com/Magnanni-Mens...5&sr=8-1&keywords=magnanni+double+monk&dpPl=1 from Nordstrom (I like reviews from Amazon better) initially at Size 9, when I tried them on later that day though the heel was loose. i could put my fingers in there. The shoe felt big. Now this was with dress socks. To get it to not move around, I put it to the third buckle and the toe box, the top of my toes to the top of my shoes had quite a bit of space (maybe 1.5 or even 2 inches?).
I went in and returned them for Size 8.5 at night. 8.5 fit snug, my toe knuckles (don't know what they're called) hit the top of the shoe. I can feel the top of the leather when walking. My toes can wiggle, but certainly not as free. The heel fits right, my feet can move forward slightly. My toes are not pinched but I am aware of them. There is about a half inch maybe of space between the top of my toes and the top of the shoe. The size 8.5 is actually slightly longer than my 9.5 Cole Haan's, but these shoes also have that narrow toe area. M
These shoes are supposed to be a half size down which means 9's would be the right fit, and even though they feel loose should I exchange them again? Return them back for 9's or go with size 8.5? I have never bought shoes these expensive and don't want to buy the wrong size. I am worried because I read different viewpoints on it's better to buy it loose because your shoe will mold to your feet and your feet will swell up in tight shoes vs tight because the leather will loosen in time.
What should I do?!
It sucks because I bought these shoes for a wedding which is in less than 3 hours because I needed black dress shoes (I HATE MORNING WEDDINGS!!). My tan shoes just don't look that great with my charcoal gray suit. I also have a pair of green suede shoes (CK), which would be not as worse with charcoal? Right now I am thinking of just wearing my tan shoes with my charcoal suit, return the black shoes mainly because of size and I have never spent so much on shoes, but I do love how they look.
*By the way, I always worry about purchasing something for the first time and freak out because I don't know what's best!! SO THANKS FOR ANY HELP!!!!!!
