As an aside, what do you guys think is the best "unstable" double layer tee fabric? I believe a lot of the older season stuff (fw11 through fw12??) was a rayon silk blend. I'm primarily seeing cotton now.
What drapes and clings better for that crazy RO double layer tee effect? What ages better?
I'm curious as my experience is limited to the older blends. Also, is there a significant difference between DRKDHDW and mainline double layers?
i'm not personally much of a fan of double layer tees, but if i had to choose, i would definitely go with the silk / viscose blends.
the cotton ones just don't drape well - the fabric is too dry and the layers stick to themselves so much that it becomes a frustration.
that being said, the silk/viscose ones can also be a bother as their layers don't stick to one another enough, and can end up just falling flat and not keeping that twisted & stacked look many might be going for.
honestly as far as the DRKSHDW double layers - i don't get the point [like, at all].
only saw them for the first time in the showroom this past January, and i literally turned to the SA and said "i don't get it, it's just a regular tee but with two layers of fabric - they're practically just one piece of fabric except you can tell me it's two, and i can tell me it's two, but it looks no different / feels no different than this level tee over here".
perhaps there's some other point to these pieces but it was 100% lost on me, as there wasn't some extra visual appeal or anything like that.
