No carbonation - big sour hit mixed with almonds (marzipan), port, leather,... Rum and tanins... I was a bit weirded out at first, but am growing fond of it sip by sip...

^ Sounds interesting... Christmas spirit with Anchor's 2015 Chistmas Ale. I indulge in plenty of this every year. Some years are better than others, but I'm never disappointed. This year is no exception. 5.5%

Had this one a bit ago. Have to admit I wasn't overly impressed.

Oldie but goodie with dinner.

A new one to me. Don't really remember that much about it, but I think it was nice.

While trimming the out-of-doors tree, something appropriately piney:

Merry Christmas to me:

What do you guys think of sour beers? Are they a dickhead beverage?I like them a lot, very tart and refreshing, as long as they arent too sweet. They are hard to find here.

I couldn't care less if they're a beverage for dickheads. Will gladly be called a dickhead to drink sour beers.

Drank a lot but this was my favorite. iStout from 8wired. On the sweeter side, very well balanced. Lots of dark chocolatey notes. Almost tasted bourbon barrel aged cuz it was so smooth but tasted fresh and not as hot

If Trump made a beer and sold it, thàt would be a dickhead's beer. Sours aren't. In fact: sours are freakin awesome, and I totally had a 15 year old bottle of Hanssens Oude Gueuze yesterday which kicked my ass... smile.gif

(Mind you, I àm a dickhead, but it's unrelated to the style...)

Gageleer. A gruitbier, with gale in stead of hops.

Good story from wiki:
Some authors present the switch to hops as a Protestant crackdown on feisty Catholic tradition, and as a Puritan move to keep people from enjoying themselves with aphrodisiac and stimulating gruit ales by imposing the sedative effects of hops instead.[1] However (...)

Edit: checked the bottle and in stead of is not right. There's hop in it as well. smile.gif Anyway: pleasant foamy and fresh beer.

Another gruitbier:

A dark and sweet one. A bit too "medicinal" for me. I liked the fresh and blond Gageleer better (probably a completely different beer altogether). Jopen makes great beers though.

Triple with some nice hop aroma's. Bitter sweet finish. Perhaps a bit thin.

There are many dickheads in the world who like many different styles of beers. I don't think there's any special connotation for sour beers. I only like them on rare occasion, but every so often they hit the spot in a way other beers don't. Basically, I drink what I'm in the mood for. If people infer personality traits from the styles of beer I drink, they'd probably think I must be schizophrenic.
