I didn't know MJ was so into beer.

It reads like a... thriller.

(I'll show myself out...)

Indeed, sir, I think you've had too much.

Here's a bunch.

Last Friday, I saw my buddy who was recently on vacation in Rome. He's not a big beer guy but I told him to keep an eye out for Cantillon. He ended up going to three different stores just to find this bottle of Iris. It's been a while since I've had one. I liked it better than I remember but maybe it's the effort involved that made me like this more.

I then opened this one for him. Definitely boozy but surprisingly drinkable at 19.5% I didn't pick up on any hazlenuts per se- more just bourbon, chocolate, sweet. We weren't feeling so hot the next morning thanks to this one.

Picked up this package from @hc4thehc on Saturday. Small but quality!

I think this was my favorite of the three different hoppy Surly beers sent to me.

I didn't love this one. I'm not sure why. I don't think I'm huge raspberry fan unless it's done really well.

Was super excited to buy a Firestone Walker Barrelworks beer right here in MA. I would have sworn this one was brewed with cherries but it wasn't! kind inbetween a Flanders and a Kriek. Really good.

Thanks to @concealed for this one. More or less a Flanders brewed with grapes and aged in wine barrels. Definitely interesting!

Been a while since I've had an Orval, had to reassess. It really is such a good beer. Whoever said Seizoen Bretta tastes like Orval, that's spot on.

When I told my trading partner that my last bottle of Stone Bu was super funky (almost overwhelmingly so) he insisted I got a bad bottle and sent me another. Talk about a nice dude! This one was definitely better but something about DeGarde's funk profile is just kind of offensive to me. Not sure why. I think I'll like their beers really "fresh" but not with much age on them at all.

That was me - and I can't wait to try the Seizoen Bretta next to Orval next summer... icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

Before I got home and switched to whisky, I was at Mikkeller Bar again last night. Still kinda obsessed with the 8 Wired offerings; I don't drink a lot of stouts (I like to drink several beers and when I drink GIANT BEERZORZ my tastebuds wilt and I get overloaded), but the iStout is as tasty as its name is dumb. I will has more of it.

Seriously: that iStout... I even like the name, not because I'm an Apple fanboy (far from it), but because it's just so fucking good...

Nice classic. (Four years younger than me). Liked it better than the Anchor IPA.

La Moneuse pre-2000. Past its peak. Took a back-up beer because y'know: old beer...

Alesmith Bourbon Barrel Aged Speedway Stout on cask. Hella' boozy. Damn good.
Rogue doesn't get a lot of love from what I can tell but their chocolate stout received good reviews and the price was good too.

It's definitely good stuff. Nice chocolate notes. Pretty dry. A bit too much carbonization at first. A little too roasted for my preference. Not too heavy. Recommended.

Interesting beer. Nice label. Worth a try!

Speakeasy Untouchable IPA was good too.

Liked the first two a lot. Final one was good but nothing to write home about.
