Very, very happy about the 8 Wired offerings at Mikkeller bar last night. Hopwired and the Saison Sauvin, in particular. NZ killin' it, who knew?

Is that the brewery you were talking about last time? I love sauvin beers. Maybe I'll go there after the upright tap takeover

Highlights from last night - I didn't take any pictures unfortunately.

Rare Barrel Tiger Lily- Didn't pick up the ginger at all on this but it was real nice. Nice oak presence and sour but not overwhelmingly so.

Double Barrel Hunahpu - hype is totally warranted on this one. It blew my mind. Such a good balance between fudgy chocolate and spiciness. Could definitely pick up on some apple from the apple brandy barrels. It's looking like I'm going to have to hunt down a bottle for myself.

Tree House Good Morning - another totally insane one. Nose was very coffee forward but drinking it was like drinking a mixture of maple syrup and chocolate milk. Somehow not too sweet though, a hint of bitterness from either coffee or hops on the end balanced it out.

Kane A Night to End All Dawns - One of the best bourbon barrel aged stouts I've ever had. Second time having it, the first time at EBF. Felt good to spend some more time with it. Really nice vanilla character to it. A touch hot but it was good.

Went to that upright takeover. Goddamn bottles of the gose for $40. I don't think it was more than $12 in Oregon. 4, 5, 6, 7 all really good tho. The one with dark malts (6?) is really good as is the hoppy 7.

But they were selling cantillon for unspeakable amounts of money (but not that much more than the gose) which I shelled out for cuz I'm a goddamn fuccboi

Really good. Not worth it by itself but the company made it really fun. Much more sour than I remember. A little too sour but still one of the best framboise.

Geuze was sold out. They had bottles of the one with the yellow label with the black character on it. Might go back tomorrow just for that

I gave the Köstritzer Meisterwerke Pale Ale another shot. Not bad. On the upside, it's quite hoppy and very bitter, which in itself is commendable for a semi-mainstream bear, but on the downside there's not much else going on. Still, a decent (and very bitter) pale ale.

Holy crap. Found them in your cellar I assume? I can't imagine a store would be sitting on them.

Trying to hunt down some VR for myself right now actually.

Edit: just realized that the 2010 Vanilla... that's just amazing.

The earlier pic (Punk IPA) wasn't from today. This one is:

Less resinous than the Snake Dog. Good stuff.

Christ. Everyone's breaking out the big guns now. I'm not going to compete with any of that.

A couple of recent beers, though:

I thought this was good, but I wasn't blown away by it, which I expected. Maybe too high of expectations.

Maybe if I was into beer at the same time that I liked movies like the Naked Gun I could get into this. But my current prejudices just won't let me get past the labels / names / contract brewing.

Nice, but not sure it tops their regular IPA for me:

Pretty decent:

Also good. I was surprised that the side of the bottle notes that it'll mature with age. May have to let some of my current allotment sit:

Waited in line at the original Black Friday for the Rare, I think I waited a total of 45min. My brother got me the half case of OG 'nilla with a 20% discount to boot. Back then though bottles were only $14.99...
