Anybody out there doing a cellar-less cellar? I'm moving to an apartment with no basement access, and I need to figure out a way to store 5 or 6 cases (mostly Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout from the past few years, plus some odds & ends).

Thus far I've heard chest freezer + temperature controller (although I have no idea what temperature controller to get, how to actually use it, or whether it works with all freezers/refrigerators or just certain ones). Any other good options? Freestanding wine cellars seem to be expensive and small, plus I don't need humidity control because for the most part the beers aren't corked.

Thanks in advance for any counsel and advice.

Hard to believe, but I think Alabama might have better beer distribution than Texas. I was able to find Bell's Two Hearted Ale and Kalamazoo Stout and Hitachino Commemorative Ale. The Hitachino was particularly enjoyable.

Good night at Downtown B&G in Brooklyn (no spam):

Maine Brewing Peeper, Mo and King Titus
a taste of The Bruery's Hottenroth Berliner Weisse
& a taste of Evil Twin's Ashtray Heart on tap (much smoother than in bottle).

I honestly keep them in my closet in my boston apt which can range quite a bit in temp....not ideal but I dont have enough space and I forget to bring some home to put in my parents cellar all the time.

After hanging out at The Nook in Huntsville since the "free the hops" folk got better beer legislation in the state, I sometimes feel that AL has better beer distro than NYC!

Is there any decent way for me to ship a lot of beer? I'm trying to move my entire beer collection across the country, but it's at least 100 bottles. I'm assuming there's probably some way to do it, but I'd rather not pay 5x the actual cost of the beer doing it or risk them all breaking/getting confiscated.

Find a moving/freight company.

Isn't that going to end up being way more expensive than shipping it really well packed by Fedex? I did an estimate for a 20x20x20 box that weighs 50 pounds and it was $58, if I can do it in like four of those, is that my best bet? Not that I even know if I can, it might end up being closer to 8+ which would start to get a bit expensive.
