Hoogstraten Poorter. Good beer, if a little thinner than I would expect out of a porter. Bready and malty with a nice belgian yeast funk. Mostly, though, it has the coolest bottle I've seen.
Bohemia chocolate stout. If you can find it, and its cheap, its definitely worth checking out. For $1 a pop down here its going to be my go to from now on.
It's time for my annual road trip to get my all-time favorite beer: Great Lakes Christmas Ale (aka Christmas Crack!)
I was just in the neighborhood of the brewery the other day. Christmas Ale was a'brewin'... it's one of the greatest smells of all time. GLBC Christmas Ale has basically inspired a sub-genre of the winter warmer around here. Hoping to do a taste test of GLBC Xmas Ale, Thirsty Dog 12 Dogs of Xmas, Fat Head's Holly Jolly Xmas Ale, and Market Garden Festivus Ale before the end of the season. Have to start procuring the goods (and hold off on drinking them)!
You sir are a lucky man. In NJ it's a couple hour ride to find a store that even carries the product, never mind smelling it brewing! Interested in purchasing it in bulk and sending it to me LOL.
Quite a few of the christmas ales are great, but as I said, the GLBC X-Mas ale, is by far the best beer I've ever had!
