had victory's Headwaters pale the other day. I love all of victory's beer and this was no exception. came off the tongue a bit dryer than I would have expected. definitely worth checking out.

also had Two Brothers Monarch (their anniversary ale) which was a beer I really liked in the past and maybe I'm just remembering this poorly but its not the same, nor did I really enjoy it.

They are similar but Hopslam is much sweeter.

I agree on the fruitiness. Way more grapefruit in DT. I think that the increased sweetness in Hopslam is characteristic of the honey added to the brew. It's a rounder pleasant sweetness, but it's certainly there.

I never get the taste of honey in Hopslam, although it's primary use is to boost the ABV of the beer. I guess there might be a residual sweetness that I am missing or the citrus notes from the hops mask the honey flavor...

although hopslam's hop profile and general flavor tends to hold a lot longer than double trouble. i just cracked open one of each i had left from january and hopslam's flavor was hardly muted, but double trouble was missing some of that punch of grapefruit you get when it's super fresh...

I may be showing my newbosity with this question, but I figure the beer nerds will have an answer. Why are so many beers sold in 16.9 oz quantities?

LOL. 16.9 oz = 500ml, its a fairly standard European/UK bottle size.

Presumably that's how it started and then it just sort of caught on. I don't know that there are too many benefits to having a larger size bottle...

Stopped by a podunk liquor store today not expecting to find anything. I was blissfully wrong.

4 - Surly Smoke
4 - 4 Packs of KBS
2 - 2010 Abyss
