I checked the bottle last night and it is in fact an '09. I might just roll the dice on this and see what happens with it down the road.

Yeah thats what I hear, I just remember there being a big up roar last year when alot of the bottles started coming up infected. This is the first year Texas has had it available so its really my first experience with it, but amazing non the less. Speaking of something with a (small) touch of sour, I had this last night:

Thats gonna be your best bet, just kinda ride it out and hope for the best. I bought 2 bottles of this years. Drank the first one on super bowl and stored the other one away till next years realeas and to do alittle side by side tasting,

Bay Area Residents: Where are you going for SF Beer Week to drink what?

Founder's KBS Release Party is March 12th. I'm planning on going. Not excited about all the beer nerds/slobs there, but the beer is delicious.

I really liked Ciechan beer which does unfiltered/unpasteurized beer by way of Poland. Wish I could find it out here. Every offering I tried from them was what I like about beer

local bar had a tapping release party with local brewer.
Beach Brewing Co. Sea Devil Imperial Stout 3 x dry hopped in cask! f'ing delicious.

Sounds amazing. Ive never had a beer from a cask before. Im sure its amazing

Think bigger aroma, warmer temps and less carbonation...I like a few beers on cask, but very few really shine served this way IMO...

^^Yes, all of the above. This in particular was dry hopped in cask which really balanced the over-maltyness of the roasted barley or malt, or whatever that I had from the same beer out of a regular keg. Definitely preferred the cask over the keg on this one. I tend to like my stouts out of a snifter and warmed by hand so this was right up my alley.

Sounds alot like the DFH 75 minute on cask I had once.

There's an event here every year called NERAX that is just unbelievable. Rotating cask ale lineup for 3 days from around the world. If anyone is local, definitely check it out. Been going for past 6 years.

Recent pickups over the past month. Got two of the Sam Adams Infinium, one to drink, other to keep for a bit. Gotta check and see if it will age in the bottle well. The Goose Island Christmas might be drank, since the place that I got it had plenty left. The Bourbon County Rare will be kept for some time, since they will never make it again. Bottle was hand numbered in pen. The Sam Adams Imperial White was mighty tasty. A ramped up version of their White Ale. Drank the Dark Truth Stout, and Tank 7 last night. Both were excellent. Latitude 48 IPA was decent. The Sixth Glass was outstanding. It has a lot of flavor right up front, kinda like a slap to the face in the good way. Boulevard has really done a great job on their Smokestack Series.
