posting this up as a reminder to read it later tonight http://www.departures.com/articles/c...at-craft-beers The Bruery by far has some of the most complex and exceptional beers I've ever had. My favorite by far was their berliner style weiss beer they had earlier this year (damn it! I want MOAR!!)

Went to City Beer in SF and they just got in Lucky Bastard on tap. Not bad. Not great, but not bad. Interesting oak chip action, but just...OK. A little light. Would make a great session beer. Also had the Double Bastard on tap. Now that..is just delish.

Drank this last night:

The John Barleycorn was waaaay better. The bitterness of the Solstice d'Hiver was dry and not that pleasing.

Picking up some Bourbon County Stout tonight. Gonna compare the 2010 & the 2008. Thoughts?

I wouldnt worry too much, I doubt I'd make it more than a few feet past your door before I passed out drunk... I'm a terrible burglar.

So are you mainly stouts? I must say I'm woefully undereducated in that category (although I've been very interested in checking out Lilja's offerings because I was very impressed with their heifer and hopness). I stick almost solely to pales and IPAs but last years nightstalker and dark horse's stuff has convinced me I need to broaden my horizons.

If your ever up for grabbing a drink and talking shop, I'm in the gold coast a few nights a week.

Sure thing, I love near Five Star over in the East Village area, I love me some RIS, especially barrel aged, but I also love sours too. IPAs are glorious, especially DIPAs, I just find it's easier to cellar stouts more than anything else, but that's just a personal preference, I like my sours nice and fresh or with less than a year of age. So people think I am crazy, but lifes to short to just sit and watch a bottle of beer...

Sure, but ya gotta have some awesome beers to share!

This is probably the greatest score of my beer career, compliments of the Midwest Stone Rep, a friend to you and me, it didn't cost me a dime. A full keg of Stone Arrogant Bastard for Saturday...

Surly Darkness is incredible.

If you haven't heard of Surly, check them out (www.surlybrewing.com). Most of their beers come in 16oz cans and in 4 packs. They have 4 that are available year round (http://www.surlybrewing.com/beer/year-round-beers.html) of which Cynic is probably my favorite. I've only heard good things about the coffee bender, though I haven't tried it.

Another great one from college area is New Glarus Brewing Co. - Spotted Cow. I think they only have distribution to sell in Wisconsin though.
