Tried this yesterday, pretty good- tastes like you think it would:



What I liked about it is not only the banana part comes through, but also the bread. It doesn't have a sour or bitter finish like a lot of fruit beers or lambics have. It doesn't taste expensive, but I think that's why I liked it.

Just finished a bottle of Brooklyn's Local 1. At first, I thought I liked it, but now I'm realizing that there is an aftertaste on the finish that I just dont like. Overall, it is obviously a good beer but just not one that I would go out of my way to drink again.

Just kopped a bottle of this earlier, also got Stone Cali-Belgique, Ommegang Abbey Ale and Ninkasi Total Domination IPA.

You fuckers have convinced me to hunt down this Imperial Pumpking ale

This. This is single-handedly the best IPA I have ever had.

I prefer Bell's Hopslam, I mean this was good, but the hype it gets is a little overrated IMO...

Ah! being a college student I have to disagree! Even on a college budget there's still plenty of good options.
Local growlers are always good (few places have great interesting selection near where I'm at, and I can't afford to be spending $8 on a bottle of beer). And when times are rough, PBR (tied with Busch) is the cheapest thing in my grocery store and a zillion times better than that Anheuser Busch crap

Being on the east coast, you don't get too much of the hype as it is not really available on a regular basis. Though I am not naive in thinking people aren't aware of it. When I had it I thought all of the components were in perfect balance with another.

I'll be in CA in a few weeks on vacation and will try to seek out more of this, as well as some other beers I can't get here.

I haven't had the hopslam before as we don't get Bell's out here either. I think PA is the easternmost state to have distribution.

Don't get me wrong Russian River makes amazing beers, but I've now had Pliny enough to form an official opinion and it's just ok.

Anyone have any of this season's Great Lakes' Christmas Ale yet? I'm not sure if distribution for it is up yet, though since it's November now (yikes!) I imagine it would be. I need to get my hands on a couple sixers of the stuff before the year's end. The only time I had it was at our research lab party at a local pub, and it was on tap and delicious.

saw the xmas ale today at the store but passed it up for some staple beers. i'll probably go this weekend to pick up a couple 6-packs.
