Any of you taller guys wear a lhamo ? I'm not sure whether to buy a used one for 250USD but worried about the length. It's size 4. Is the noragi much longer ?

Thanks for the feedback, armholes are just too small, 101 probably not for me, going to let it go.

noragi is longer than lhamo by maybe 2 inches.

Do you guys buy visvim footwear by proxying from Japan usually or from the stores in the US/Canada? I've been on the lookout for a pair of Virgils and FBTs but it seems like after factoring in shipping and everything it usually isn't that much cheaper to buy from Japan.

Depends if you're comfortable with used, in which case there will be a much larger price difference. Regardless, if you go on the webstore and compare costs for different regions, there's still a very large difference. Proxy fees + shipping from a site like From Japan will probably run you something in the ballpark of $50. This season's FBT shamans are 40k yen for Japan vs. $585 for USA, according to visvim.tv. 40k yen is $390... I'd say the inconvenience of working around proxies is worth the $195. North American retailers like Haven are even pricier because they have their own markups. Personally, I've bought the majority of my Visvim from Japan and it's definitely loads cheaper.

Hm good point, I'll start keeping an eye out on the yahoo japan and rakuten too then and hopefully I'll find some slightly used ones for cheap. Thanks for the info!

Edit: Do you find that Japan stockists usually sell out of the virgils and fbt before sales season?

Some of us are in Japan too :D

Before I was in Japan I did the proxy thing and it's definitely the way to go, particularly if you go used. It's a bit more of a hassle especially if you aren't sure of sizing, but that's the risk you run for cheaper stuff. If you've got a shop nearby that carries them it's still the best way to check it out and that's the premium you pay. For everyone else I guess the internet is the way to go.

And no, I am not a proxy.

What are you guys using to condition and clean your shoes? Saphir?

I got a pair of a black 73's that could use some love. The white sole is pretty dirty too.

My Gris mid mocs (SS13) came Friday.  The fit is about TTS, maybe 1/2-1/4" size larger.  I am usually a size 11, or 10.5 in Skagways, and these are a size 11.  They fit pretty well, with a bit of room in the toe, but I'm not sure that with a size 10.5, that my toes wouldn't be pushing the end of the shoe.  The uppers are not at all structured, so that is an additional consideration in sizing.  These are "floppy" like a traditional mocassin.

Really soft, fairly thick suede, though not full grained, which would have been nice. Goodyear welted, with a cork insole.  Comfort is certainly there.

Love the heel stabilizer.

Oh shiiiiet.  Haven's got a ss15 trunk show preview/recap.  http://havenshop.ca/store-cats/previews/visvim-ss15-trunkshow-recap/

The boot at the very top and bottom looks great man.  Would kop 100%.  Toe box look narrower than virgils?

Anyways, anyone have any experience with Kangaroo virgils and can speak about their durability or tendency to stretch?

Any stockists have a decent AW14 selection in yet?  I'm interested in see how my money will be spent this fall.

Yeah.  I saw them.  The Sashiko FBTs look interesting, but I don't think that I could forgive myself for being that much of a Hypebeast.  tbh, what I am most interested in are the skagways.  The Virgils are cool, but I can get a better boot from Viberg.  The Grizzlies are cool, but I actually like the Yuketen Maine Guide boots more, etc... The FBTs are actually really cool... but Kanye wears them :fu:
