I talked to the staff today and it was quite a hassle as he barely spoke English. Not to mention it seemed like he had no idea what visvim is nor the fact that they actually have them in stock. Couldn't even get the order through on the phone since they were having issues adding the product to the cart on their backend. Also, be ready for quebec taxes on visvims... (since it's store exclusive) even if you don't live in Canada.

Still talking to the guy via email so I'll keep you guys posted. Pretty ridiculous prices though.

Did anyone notice the boba cup on the photo? hahaa

An awkward side shot of the navy embroidered flora. I wanted to show the sashiko style stitching on the embroidery, and the three dimensional nature of the fabric.

Thanks, guys (And g transistor) to finally kicking off a Visvim threat on this board. Fycus is the man who can (... or knows a lot about it). Exciting to read up on it here now, too.

Still waiting for a chance to pick up the Scagway blue patchwork/ Hi-Flux Folk for a "reasonable" price (I will bite at around $600). Also, living in LA, I got Union which has a great selection ... at full retail ... But I guess if one wants to play, one needs to pay every now and then ...

nice to see a Vis thread on SF - finally ! I have to disagree with the fit comments of the lhamo, according to me it fits TTS, but yes size up one with the noragi.
I prefer the noragi's fit actuallly since the body is longer, I think lhamo works better on short dudes. It seems FW14 will have new noragi release ?

I think most people will be fine going TTS on the Lhamo, especially shorter guys. BUT I think it looks best sized up one for a more slouchy, oversized look. Sizing up gives you a little similar fit to Sanjuro, which I like. That kind of fixes the length problem. I don't like the noragi too much, I think the lhamo is a much better designed piece. For every TTS lhamo fit that looks good, there are 10 more that look awful. Of course, then the problem with sizing up is sleeve length being too long, but that's an easier fix than the body being way too short

Looks like some aw14 releases first week of august.

Who else is interested in the solid color laramie-folk? It appears to be exactly the same as the ss14 ones with the hand-painted dots...does anyone have those and can comment?

Dude, have you not read this thread? Those are for sale at SSENSE (offline only) for $320 CAD. Even accounting for shipping and tax, that is way lower than $600. I like them. The suede feels sorta thin though...

****, no I have not ... on it - thanks, man

Edit:
  • Ordered and on it's way to LA. Thanks, Fok. Idiot me, I read page 1 and 2 of this threat, then jumped to page 4 without reading the all important 3rd page
  • Also switched to the indigo Floral after checking out a few fit shots online of theHigh-Flux Folk and did not like it too much when worn actually. Go figure ... It probably is only because of your constant raves about them ... Thanks again.

You guys are making me want Skagways. But I've resolved to not pay more than $150 for sneakers ever again. I do have some Vans slip ons on the way though

I like the blue damask (thinking of getting the red damask as well, if I can find my size) and indigo flora skagways in part because of the dark low tones. Visvim can be worn really "bright", but that just isn't me. Everything I wear looks a little grim, romantic but a little dark. I contemplated the patchwork Skagways, but they are just a bit too whimsical for me. I think that somone like @conceptual 4est could totally pull them off, though.

Laces for Virgils: Buy 54". It'll be a little expensive since it's flat rate shipping... mine came out to be $17 for 1 pair at waxed cotton with brass tips. They're just a hair thinner than normal Visvim laces but they work fine enough. I actually prefer the rounded wax laces over the leather ones for Virgils.

Good call, got a light brown pair. When they arrived, they seemed a lot thinner than I thought it would be. Not sure if I got the right one, but it's the round cotton waxed dress ones with brass tips. But anyway, put them on, they look about right. Length is pretty much perfect, except maybe add an inch or two as there is no leeway, but then again, the leather laces that came with the boots ended up being two different lengths, so no biggie.

That's actually fine. The regular cloth laces that came with my bison virgils (that model) barely could tie when wrapped around. They stretched and fit fine now, just long enough to be tied after ankle wrap

Looks good. The standard Visvim laces are also 54", and I don't do the thing where you wrap the laces around the boot, I just use the speedhooks and then kinda tuck the laces in between the tongue and upper.. I think the Vis ones a a bit more durable and maybe like 1/16" thicker, but the Vis laces are fairly thin too. These are the best replacement laces I've found though.
