I did not start a thread about the shootings in Chicago. What's your point? Does that mean I don't care? Or that I value animals' lives over those of humans? No, you are making assumptions once again.

This is an internet message board, how else am I supposed to determine what you are concerned with other than where you post? I'm not your facebook friend so I must have missed all those plaintive pleas to stop inner city violence you posted over the weekend.

I do not get that one..

It can't be the risk factor...

But none of the animals she shot were technically classed by the ICUN as "endangered" or she couldn't, shouldn't or wouldn't have shot them. Some are classed as "vulnerable": lion, hippo; others as the less critical "near threatened": leopard, white rhino. In any event, I believe all the animals she shot were more or less artificially maintained on fenced game ranches (although, in fairness to her, many of these are huge, creating "fair chase" situations).

To hunt big animal is obviously a must and is the Nirvana of hunting...

In this artificial hunting ground ,what is the pleasure to shoot a prey in such conditions?

I do understand people hunting especially if they eat their kills but I do not see the point of that..

Neither this cheerleader nor Africa asked for your opinion. If you don't see the point of hunting big game then don't hunt big game.

I do not see the point of hunting endangered species..

I do not also see to shoot animals in a shooting gallery...

Hunting is a sports or it is not really hunting..

It's a forum and without discussion , what's the point of this thread...

We're not on CE..

I went to school (in Texas) with a bunch of people who went to Africa every couple of years to hunt big game. They almost exclusively went to the big game ranches to do so. They were skilled and serious hunters; I doubt they'd pay that kind of money to participate in a hunt that wasn't a fair chase situation.

I'd just like to clarify that most of these game ranches are not "fish in a barrel" setups. Many are really huge--50,000 acres or more. Not only do they do good by preserving a lot of charismatic megafauna like lions, rhinos and elephants that would otherwise be really hammered (as they are and have been over much of the rest of Africa), but they provide original habitat for vast numbers of non-game animals.

im not saying i dont feel bad for her, but im not surprised, or upset with l'oreal.

in this day and age so much of this boils down to PR and $. if a company feels that a certain employee/ambassador will do more harm than good, dollars wise, they are going to sever ties. public perception equals dollars, so the value that person brings has to be greater than their salary, and whatever estimated loss they may have from a loss of customers that find this person objectionable.

its the world we live in. for better or worse, in a universe of instant global information and the value of public opinion, thats the way things roll.

i cant imagine though that she wont find another contract elsewhere after her exposure.

Exactly ..

You live by the sword, you die by the sword...

If you're famous for your image ,you have to assume that position..

Public figure has the word public in it...
