From my understanding, Woodlore Ultras come in split-toe only. Is that much better than a typical Joseph A bank full-toe shoe tree? I understand JOS shoe trees are made by woodlore (an AE company) as well.

I have also owned AE split-toes, but is there an advantage with Ultra split toes? Do it actually fill out the space better?

Price of Ultras are at around 3x the cost of JOS or 2x the cost of AE shoe trees.

I'm sure there are theoretical reasons for holding that one type is vastly superior to the other. But as a real world, practical matter, I very strongly suspect that either type is perfectly adequate, and that you'd have no need to fret over having chosen a JAB full-toe tree over a Woodlore Ultra split-toe tree.

Feel free to buy the cheap trees. Do not look back, and do not second guess your decision.

I plowed through a couple of JAB ones and was just wondering whether it's worth the premium to check out the Ultra line. From what I can tell, the Ultra claims to fill out the shoes better with a gold brass knob, which is really for meant to bring out the aesthetics of the shoes.

I'll buy one to check it out.

I presume your conviction is 100% correct in that either type if perfectly adequate. The full-toe AE ones I own from the basic line look exactly like the JAB ones, except for the logo on the shoe trees.

Appreciate your help.
