I have a pair of their RILASÀA Penny Loafers in brown. Quality is great. I wear them once to twice a week in my shoe rotation and they are holding up well. They are an amazing shoe. Great silhouette and very comfortable! I emailed them to figure out my size and they were very helpful.

Hi all,

My name is Enrico Casati, and I'm the co-founder of Velasca. I came across this post, and I'm glad to help you with any questions you have on our company. Our shoes are entirely hand-made in Italy in the city of Montegranaro, Marche. Our mission is to make luxury-quality products available at a fair price, thus the current collection ranges from 89 to 189 euros (including VAT and shipping both ways in Europe). Shoes are mainly Blake-Stitched.

I hope this helps and feel free to write to us on [email protected].

Best regards,
Enrico Casati

Hi @Enrico Casati,

Can you say something about the lasts you use? Are they typically suited for 'normal feet', or are some lasts more suited for people with narrow feet and other for people with wide feet?

For instance, I wonder what the characteristics are of the ankle boot (I'd call it a chukka :)) Artista. On the narrow side, on the wide side; what about the instep?

You don't offer different widths, do you?

Thanks

Hi @NOBD , thank you for your questions; I'd say that our lasts (especially the ones we use for our oxfords and ankle boots) accomodate a regular foot. Ankle boots in particular are perfect for feet with a high instep, as they show open lacings. We do not currently offer different widths, but we are developing a wider last for our new (not shown yet) derby shoes and boots. We'll launch it in the 2015 FW season

I hope I was helpdful with this, please don't hesitate to contact me again.

Best regards,
Enrico Casati

You were helpful, Enrico; thank you.

I might have to wait for next year, then. You're right of course that the open lacings will help with a high instep, but my feet are quite wide as well (and I don't want to size up too much), so that might be a problem.

Thank you, Enrico. I'm in The Netherlands, so yes: EU. I might give it a shot.

What size would you recommend for the Artista? Sizes of some shoes I own (or have owned):

Crockett & Jones (337 last): size 8.5
Loake Kempton (026 last): size 8
Santoni (Prince and George last): size 8

Good choice ;) I would definitely recommend a size 42 Velasca for the Artista. I've just checked and it's available in stock, therefore it can be shipped tomorrow via FedEx Express and be with you within 2 business days.

I hope I helped!

Best regards,
Enrico

Thanks again. Please reserve the 42 while I go to the website and order the shoe. : )

Hey NOBD, how are the boots? Can you give us your first hand experiences on the leather quality and fit? I'm also interested to find out how the quality of the insole is, is it real leather or leatherboard?

Hi Schweino. The leather is smooth (velvety suede, not very 'hairy') and soft. Obviously, I can't comment on how durable it will be. Neither can I really comment on the fit. I have wide feet and a high instep. I thought the 42 was the right size for me, but it was a bit too tight. I've ordered half a size larger (which will take a couple of weeks to arrive). I assume the insole is real leather, but you might want to ask Enrico about that.

Generally speaking: I like the boots: the last shape, the weight. Hopefully, I will get the size right; then I'll have a light and comfortable shoe that I will probably wear a lot.

@NOBD do you normally take a G width in the Loake 026 last?

In terms of tightness in the size 42 Velasca, was it tight width-wise, how was the heel?

I take a Loake 026 8G and its a snug fit in the width and perfect in the ankle. Judging by your experiences it seems that the 42.5 would be best with Velasca. TIA
