I think it really looks different to everyone. Drizzt, above, for example, wears dress shoes with t-shirts. I really don't like it, but then I also think that certain cap toes work with dressy jeans if you dress the rest of the outfit up as well.

Sysdoc, before he left, posted the most convincing photos of this look, though I think it can work even without the blazer he threw in (just a long sleeved dress shirt that fits well and has a fabric and styling that exudes the right dressed up touch).

Yeah, but I have to search for photos in an 800-page thread so he can make/explain his point?

If it were my photos and I wanted to illustrate what I am saying here, then sure. Anyway, I did, so it's all good.

You're the one who asked for pictures. I don't care if you look at them or not.

I do wear dress shoes with T-shirts, but there's also many many pictures of me wearing dress shoes with blazers, button downs, polos, and all kinds of different shirts. Regardless, I think sleeker dress shoes don't work with the fabric of jeans. It has nothing to do with the rest of the outfit, but merely the look from the knee down.

I sincerely think that searching for pictures can be quite helpful as you've got different style of dress shoes wearers in the streetwear forum:

Drizzt: wears them with very dressy jackets but more relaxed dress shirts and tapered raw jeans, I'd say he tone down the dressiness with the more substantial dress shoes he wears, and would look kinda off with sleeker shoes (like a suited up guy who switched his dress pants for jeans).

A. Harris: Is an interesting case as he basically wears the more casual offerings from companies mostly known for their high quality menswear (think the rarer/more respected around here Italians). So you'll get a guy wearing a safari jacket, casual dress shirt and some raw jeans with somewhat rugged boots but from people like Barba and Attolini. I would really be wary of trying that though as, while he pulls off very well, most people doing that really chose the wrong pieces and combinations and end up looking like businessman who don't know how to dress when they're not in front of their computers.

Gsmart: Does his post-skin thing with tight jeans with no break and funkier dress shoes worn very casually. So you will possibly see some sleeker models but something will often be off (say they're a very reddish oxblood or somewhat matte) and will give a totally casual vibe combined with his tattoos.

Braidkid: dressed very clean and minimal and wears the sleeker models to match, often with a tee. Not a wingtip guy and would ideally wear plaintoes and boots.

Ryegb: More of a rocker vibe so no usual dress shoes, great for wilder ideas but probably not what you're looking for.

If you want to see what wearier boots and shoes totally unfit for a "dressy" environment look at my WAYWT. When I wear dressier shoes they tend to be:
A)\tBoots (zip, chukkas, chelseas)
B)\tVery sleek as I wear tight tapered jeans and slim fitting blazers with tees

In general, I think the less stubby the toe, the better. Something with a sort of elongated toe (but not pointy) is ideal. Also, I think the best look is for a scuffed but still polished shoe. Something that looks like you've worn it for years, and have recently retired it to use with jeans. In all honesty, I'd wear them around without worry, get them a bit beat up, then get them shiny again, but still let them show their wear.

Funny you mention this. I do search for photos of people who pull off certain looks well (ex. Lance Konami, for a random example).

For the jeans with dress shoes thing, without having gone through a lot of WAWYN, I always did think Get Smart stuck out, without dressing up the look with more than a short-sleeved shirt (not t-shirt). However, I didn't think the dress shoes in the pics I saw were off anywhere. Maybe he just looked more serious or authoritative in his photos than anyone else, I don't know.

Here's a pic of shoes I currently wear with jeans:

And shoes that I used to wear with jeans that I've since sold:

Some go with certain types of jeans better than others of course.

Those Jermyns are one of my favorites for jeans, but what do you pair with spectators?

Damn you A Harris, what with your impeccably fitting sportcoats, and your mastery of the pocket square, and your insane shoe collection... Seriously though, nice fucking wholecuts (all of them).
