You pretty much hit it right there.  In the early days of the Sartorialist, when he was still posting here, he actually captured a lot of different styles on "regular" people.  I really enjoyed the diversity.  The problem with his style, though, and that of other street style photographers, was pretty well captured in a piece about him a while ago that got it exactly right.  It was that he has only one thing to offer, which is admiration.  And anyone who has been in an asymmetrical relationship, which means pretty much anyone of adult age who doesn't live in a cave, knows that admiration gets old, fast.

Do you have a reference for that article, I would like to read it as I do like the sartorialist's work.
I tried searching a few different terms, but couldn't see it. (Read a few other interesting critical commentaries: either he does not interview well at all, or there are some very passive aggressive interviewers who dislike him for whatever reason).

It was on print - either GQ or Esquire, or maybe Details. If I can find it, I'll look it up.

Scott is a quote machine, particularly after he has a few drinks in him. Some of the stuff that he has said and done doesn't cast him in a particularly flattering light. I'm not saying that I know the man well, but he does come off poorly sometimes.

The "admiration" article was in GQ. I still remember his interview in the Globe and Mail when he went on about his sex life.

Some of the high water and/or overly slim pants in the pictures on page 1 are ******* ATROCIOUS.

Took a lot of otherwise decent looking outfits and made them look completely stupid. What are these people thinking?

I'm only posting 2 examples to reduce congestion:

I've been guilty of this myself a few times. My excuse is that I mostly buy RTW pants, and have long legs and the pants often shrink with the first wash and become slightly too short (then I ususally just wear them with boots and it all works out just fine).

These guys probably do bespoke though, so I don't think that applies to them. On the other hand, they're mostly there to sell something. This style is still widely popular among the GQ fans, so maybe they're just catering to that.
