I had acne a few years ago and its calming just a bit now and I'm 21 already. But those acne pimples left me with a lot of red marks and brown marks. Does anyone who have these marks find a good way to get rid of it?

So far i tried ACV, lemon juice, had a chemical peel, Aspirin mask, potato, AND AHA 12 percent glycolic acid and nothing has helped me. I have Asian sensitive skin. I feel like i tried almost every single option. Can anyone recommend me anything else that worked for you personally if you had these marks?

Thank you.

the marks sound like a form of scarring

they will fade a bit over time but short of some sort of laser treatment of plastic surgery, there isn't any way to get rid of them

thanks. But they arent really scarring. Its more like hyperpigmentation. I read it on acne.org and i just havent found one option that works.

Skin Biology's copper peptides have helped fade my red marks from pimples. Do a google on them.

okay ts. By the way, how long did it take for you to see results with the copper peptides? Thank you . Also, can you give me a link to the specific product you used? I googled it and there wasn't a direct answer. The first site showed a tanning lotion.

mederma is supposed to be good for acne scaring, specifically helping with the discoloration. you can get it without a persription at any drugstore. I used it on a dark spot/scar on my chin from a bike crash a cuople of years ago, it worked.

Yeah I had pretty bad acne for 1-2 years, and was also left with red/brown spots. The best advise I can give you is to see a dermatologist. If it is scarring, I would not recommend exfoliation as this will only aggravate and worsen the skin. Best of luck.

Wow, you've tried a lot of products and none of them have effectively worked?

It's also important to note that hyper pigmentation and/or scarring takes a long time to gradually wear off on skin when using products so results are not immediate. Secondly, it's very important to wear sunscreen (at least SPF 15) when treating brown spots, discoloration or hyperpigmentation as skin will be more prone to sun damage.

For discoloration or hyperpigmentation, I would recommend Kojic Acid as many people have had great results with it (it will be gradual though). Any type of skin brightening products as they clear away blemishes, scars, discoloration and hyperpigmentation. I've personally used Retintol (which increases cell turnover, thus new skin cells) and it's helped with my scars.

From Wikipedia:
"Treatment of hyperpigmentation may include hydroquinone, kojic acid, azelaic acid, ascorbic acid, tretinoin (Retinol), topical glucocorticoids, and licorice extract. Note that all treatments will fail if the affected area is exposed to the sun and if there is not adequate UVA/UVB protection."

I'm Asian (it's important to note that darker skin tones such as Asian, African and East Indian to name a few, are more prone to hyperpigmentation) and I used to have many mild to moderate acne scars that took several months to fade away. However, now I have few, but darker spots from my acne scars and it's getting increasingly difficult to treat, but I use Retinol and Kojic Acid based products and it's helped tremendously.

I hope this helps! If not, you should go consult a dermatologist.

I only get a pimple once in awhile now, but I'm still on a Tazorac (gel) and a pill for my acne. What worked for me to get rid of red marks:

Running
Drinking more water
Not worrying

Seriously, I stopped using all the ****** products besides the perscribed ones and I got clear. I still have some red marks, but they're fading.

I now run for 35 min a day, and not only does it keep me in shape but my skin looks phenomonally better too. Water obviously helps too.

what Kojic Acid product did you use egoiste? I am also Asian as well and it is true most Asians and other darker skin individuals are more prone to hyperpigmention. Is it something called skintocels phyto + ... ? How long did it take for your redmarks/ brownmarks from acne to disappear?

how the hell does "not worrying" and running get rid of red marks, thats absurd, sweat actually increases acne

Stop using so many damn products and stop stressing over acne--that's basically what I meant by not worrying. When you use so many products, it just makes your face irritated and your acne can get worse. Stress increases acne for sure as well. It was more meant as a joke than anything else, I'm sure no one actually took it seriously. (Yeah, apocalyse later said to drink more water and run today. He also said not to worry, so I'm making a really conscious effort to do that!)

And while running specifically does not get rid of red marks, sweating actually does. Sweating expels the toxins from inside the skin that normally don't get out if you don't sweat a lot. Ever notice that after doing exercise, your skin looks exponentially better for a day or two? True, if you don't wash off within an hour span or so, you probably could get a bit of acne, but most people I know hit the showers after running.

Water probably helps the most though.

By the way, you really shouldn't post when you don't know what you're talking about. I may not be a dermatologist and I may not have every variation of hyperpigmentation memorized, but I do know what worked for me and what worked for others. So when you say that my reccomendations are "absurd", maybe you should take a look back at what you're saying and realize that you are looking at an old wive's tale comparable to "Grease gives you acne".
