Are we talking Ricky-Martin-before-he-came-out gay, or Ricky-Martin-after-he-came-out gay? Because the former is slightly more gay, and I'd place espadrilles somewhere between those two (manly) poles.

The main point is whatever one's sexual preference, or sexuality, preference or not,
espadrilles are not appropriate for tap dancing. Hence, Style Forum Icon Fred Astaire
seems never to have been seen in espadrilles. Twentieth century British statesman
and also a style icon Sir Anthony Eden, wore them.

no need to be shy... lol i just bought a pair. im from a big city but im going to school in a small town... and i do feel a bit reluctant to wear them. but when it gets super hot out, im GOING to wear them. very comfortable shoes and way better looking than bro flops

saw at bunch at nordstroms in the capital of the south.  expected them up north, but way out of place down here.  saw a few hippies wearing some too.

well, like said above it depends on the context...

I don't think you can call it gay, particularly if you wear them while breaking a horse

In Argentina, gauchos (cowboys) wear them all the time... you wouldn't call this dude "ghey" would you? he'd probably kick your ass...

Seriously gay or not, what is the real difference between these and the $4 chinese/south asian ones? Why pay that much for something with a whip stitch difference if you are going to get them? I don't say this much but in this case, go chinese...
