But I thought Spain was the greatest footballing power in the history of mankind...invincible, they were never going to lose again??

All superpowers crash and burn at some point.

Glad Australia put up a good fight, our players/team shouldn't get over confident.

I guess my sarcasm didn't come through. I was mocking those who held that viewpoint. It has been frustrating trying to have rationale conversations with Spanish supporters and the bandwagon jumpers lately.

Never mind the "experts" that come out of the woodwork every four years - who never watch the game on a regular basis.

Cameroon's keeper looks like Omar Epps after a visit to James Harden's barber. One of the Croatian forwards looks like a young Cosmo Kramer.
Trying to decide how that will affect the outcome.

Oh sorry, I just jumped in and mist the sarcasm, sorry.

I for one have had great fun having conversations about football with 5pa1n supporters lately :)

I wonder whether Del Bosque will stay--prolly not. Who'll replace him? Will Pep be able to coach two teams at once?

OK, so Croatia holds on to win.

they beat Mexico 1-0

While Cameroon stun Brazil 3-0.

Croatia through and Mexico - Brazil tied with 4 points, Brazil go out on goal differential...who's with me???

At least I think that's right...

It could even be possible if Croatia and Mexico draw.

Headbutting your own team mate. That's a new low. Also, clearly a red card.

Anyway, now all we need is a CMR that fights for its honour and wins vs Brazil, and Mexico and Croatia to draw.

Mexico-Croatia will be nailbiter, or as we say here: "no apto para cardìacos".

Re goalkeeping today, some of these folks should learn from Ocho. Casillas clearing the ball right to a Chilean player and the aussie goalkeeper giving the dutch the victory.

There has been some great goalkeeping (US, Mexico) and some pretty atrocious goalkeeping (Japan and Russia, in the same game) in this World Cup. It's been pretty inconsistent. I thought that the goaltenders were supposed to be the rocks of their teams.

I know they all rook same to you but russia played korea ;-)

You can add Casillas to your list, punching the ball to opponent in the box is ill-advised. I guess some are still nervous, and in his case he should be--he's barely played for two years and now I guess Mourinho is vindicated.

tbh, I've been cheering for whatever Asian team is on the pitch. Also, some of the Koreans look like Japanese Koreans, for real. The cheekbones.

Yeah, there have been some really rookie mistakes on the part of the goalkeepers. That second chance goal by Russia should never have happened. That ball should have been smothered. On the other hand, wtf is up with failing to catch a ball coming straight at you, letting it bounce off your head, and then into the net. That dude looked nervous. He owes his teammates who scored drinks for life, since they probably spared him a trip to the gulag.

Dear lord, my facebook feed is horrendous with these people. Everyone has an "opinion" and feels entirely justified in expressing it. Please stop the madness. I'm almost to the point of wishing the tourney was already over so the sport could fade back into the background and I can go happily on my way.

EDIT: Also, Red Hot Chile Pressure is fantabulous.
