I'm apologizing in advance for posting a FIFA-related image in the Football Thread. Messi will be on the cover of FIFA 15.

This bromance, plus the presence of Podolski's son on the pitch confuses me

Been a damn good year for me so far. Arsenal get the FA Cup, Germany get the World Cup. Now just bring Khedira and Di Maria to north London! COYG!

Makes this interesting re: Khedira (Arsenal don't be cheap!) and especially if they go for Rodriguez as well, as he is represented by same agent as Di Maria which would make double commission should DM head out, PSG of course being interested...

PSG can give David Luiz back if Chelsea wants,...

Gunners also in the hunt for Di Maria? Sanchez, Khedira and Di Maria, assisted by Ozil, would form a formidable offense.

Di María going to PSG was last I read. Khedira to Arsenal pretty solid.

This WC piqued my interest in soccer again. Who do I cheer for?

AC Milan or MAnchester United.

You will not regret it.

(Well maybe Ac Milan. But trust me we have a long tradition of wi-.....)

I sound like a fan of the Dallas Cowboys right now. I should stop.

I'm a fan of the Dutch if that means anything. Who is worthwhile in the dutch league? Guys like kuyt, v persie etc all play in turkey? No idea how the leagues work. Looks like I need to do some wikipedia-ing.

I just don't want to end up rooting for the LA kings / Yankees / typical "evil empire" type always-good team.

Van Persie is on Man U. Kuyt's in Turkey.

Jarude, sport begins and ends with Real Madrid

Van Persie on ManUnited. Kuyt on Trabonazpor(?). Sneijder on Galatasaray for now. Robben on Bayern Munich.

Actually, I think the majority of Hollands young team at WC was based with Feyenord (sp?). Ajax are current kings of Holland.

Man, these spelling mishaps are discrediting me. Should be more on the ball.

I ended up rooting for an evil empire type team (Bayern). I struggled with finding a club team to identify with for a long time after enjoying World Cups and the like for many years (actively starting in 2002, casually back in 1994 when I was a young kid). I'm part German, so when I decided I needed to find a European club team to root for (2010), I went with the one that had my favorites from the German national team at the time - Klose, Muller, Lahm, Neuer, etc. The fact that Oliver Kahn played for Bayern in the past definitely didn't hurt matters.

I enjoy Premier League soccer, but I just can't identify with any of the teams. Arsenal has a few German nationals on their team, but I cringed about half the time I was watching Mertesacker play, have mixed emotions about Ozil and am neutral towards Podolski. Chelsea has Schurrle, who assisted the goal that won Germany the World Cup, but I'm not sure that really does it for me.

I'm PSG because I'm from Paris.

That's the best reason to support a team.

Amazingly hard to do that when you don't live in Europe. :p

Suarez to Barca has caused me to stop supporting a team I've barracked for since I was about 14 (13 years). A bit dramatic, but it goes against everything I liked about Barca. Mes que un club ... not really when you're just as happy to win at all (monetary) cost as Real.
