I have been disconnected from the SW & D style.

Could you please, illustrate me concisely on what is the state of the art in SW & D

pics would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Military, gothic, americana and western styles are pretty popular. Oversimplifying but it's something and i'm not sure i exactly understand the question.

For example, if you go to the MC forum, they'll tell you the best shoes are Lobbs or EGs and the reasons why, and the best suits would be Brioni, Kiton ( now under debate ) etc..

So what are the SW&D Items you consider the best of each category and which are those categories ... and why

Military, gothic, americana describes my aesthetic tidily.

Things aren't so cut/dried in S&D because of the diversity of the realm. Different people have very different ideas of what the best brands are. The recent spat in WAYWN illustrates this nicely.

I'd say jnco and adidas all-stars are probably the best in the jeans/sneaker areas.

Ooohhh. If you want to go by what's most popular and what group think generally considers the best. People's opinions vary, but this is what i think the most common answers would be. Jeans: - skinnyto slim(depends how you wear them)- dior 19cm - slim to slimish- APC, and some japanese brands such as PBJ, Samurai, Flat Head, and 45 rpm - also 5EP, although their current cuts until the styleforum fit comes out aren't for everyone Hoodies: - Wings & Horns/W+H, Spruce - Michael J Krell hoodies Shoes: -Jack Purcells - Paul Smith brogues or other designs - Too many boot brands to name, but Neil Barretts are respected Shirts: - Band of Outsiders - Margiela Other(interesting pieces, and simple stuff): -APC - Nom de Guerre - Cloak (sadly no longer being created but stuff can still be found)

Some of chronoaug's labels have been dealing directly with SF forum members, most notably MJKrell and 5EP, somewhat like G+G shoes in Men's Clothing.

In the market, lakewolf, or just bored?

I am partial to Steven Alan shirts, but I admit that they are kind of getting pretty sucky and I am sticking to them out of laziness. I understand he hangs out with the J. Crew gang which explains things.... file under: gossip 45rpm jeans just cannot be beat in my admittedly rather limited experience in this matter. (I have not seen Rag & Bone, 5EP, or whatevs) I think we can agree that Engineered Garments makes great outerwear. Their other pieces are up for debate. (I, for one, quite like their button-downs) Loopwheeler T's are supreme, but expensive and difficult to get. Not sure any t-shirt is worth the effort or $$$, really. Buzz Rickson makes the best repro bomber jackets, we agree, yes? But one's options are... non-existent, really. Yeah, I am bored, too.

My only issue with Steven Alan shirts is the relatively long length, the fit seems good.

I feel like the SA shirts just begin unraveling as you wear 'em. The button holes, unravel, for instance. I don't think I am buttoning/unbuttoning like the Swedish Chef or anything... I do like the casual/wrinkly business though. That suits me just fine. And I like that the cut is generous----I don't feel like I am prowling the streets for hot/steamy sex with anyone/anything with the time/inclination.

since you're in zurich, take a trip over to "fidelio" at munzplatz 1, right behind the church off bahnhofstrasse - they have a good selection of streetwear and denim that would be a good start - they even have their own in house label that is pretty good (www.fidelio-kleider.ch)

there is also an excellent tee shirt store in zurich west called "erflog" (i don't have the address) i think they use zimmerli tee shirts for their work, so pricey, but interesting

I like the choose-your-own-adventure nature of your post.

I am prowling the streets for steamy sex with anything with the time. Nike Dunk SBs are the most comfortable sneakers, they are the BEST at comfort. For looks, well, they are not the most elegant athletic shoe. Common Projects are among the priciest----they are the best at being expensive.
