I'm still kinda miffed that those F***ers ruined swastika's for us brownies...

Ruined a millenia old symbol that didn't even belong to them. What once stood for peace and prosperity now stands as a surrogate for hate.

Also, one more thought on the matter, for those interested -- I was curious about the motivations of designers to attempt something that would in all likelihood be a sales and PR disaster. I've been a fan of sasquatchfabrix for more than a minute now, and I respect them enough to not think they'd do something this dumb in the name of shock value alone. So I dig some looking and found this interview:

Some select quotes:

A: Real clothes?

W: We believe that denims, chino cloths, military items for men are generally comfortable materials and make you relaxed, no matter what shapes they take. We've got this feeling by wearing so many different kinds of clothes for the past years. We design showy and aggressive clothes, but wearability is also crucial to our design. We don't design clothes that are just aggressive. These are just a reflection of designers' ego.

A: I think you are doing well in terms of expressing the fun part of wearing clothes. This A/W collection is even showier than the previous one with the continuous theme 'pirates.'

W: That theme is a combination of those pirates who go all over the world in search of treasure and Tokyo fashion scene that absorbs worldwide cultures. For instance, the way those young people in fashion snaps on magazines dress is crazy in a way, but they give us an impression of the impulsive power to enjoy fashion. They wear whatever treasurable to them, and it seems as if they were like contemporary pirates. We have also been slightly influenced by the early Vivienne Westwood's pirate clothes, so that we have arranged discharge printing and used ropes and meshes. The latest collection is our first European-oriented collection ever.

The bolded section in the second quote in particular really speaks to me, and I can definitely respect that. It provides a framing for the ethos of the brand as a whole, which encapsulates the sort of joyful sartorial freedom you see in places like Tokyo (Harajuku in particular comes to mind), NYC of a few decades ago, etc. Sort of a celebration of clothes as clothes, not as art, high fashion, or anything with a deeper meaning. Of course, that train of thought sort of derailed, crashed and burned in a smoldering wreckage with surrounding people trying to put out fires and rescue children; but irrespective of the execution of this particular collection, it's a pretty cool message if you ask me.

I thought I might have mismatched the brands. Personally I don't value/judge appropriation like that either which way - if it's generally harmless and the imagery being us[urp]ed isn't rooted in something deeply meaningful to some peoples. It's hard to distinguish righteous indignation and hold on to it when stuff looks so cool, sometimes... Fashion is pretty cargo culty

Its not just the indian appropriation

Its also the appropriation of what the white colonisers were wearing

Im sure some of the RRL blankets could well be similar to the smallpox ones

Anyway I dont have a problem with any of it, includi the nazi stuff.
Make it ubiquitous you take away its impact

Looking cool, Regis.

Before this conversation I had no idea that there was any meaning at all to "88." The shirt reminded me of a raiders jersey I had as a kid and blackbeard is an awesome pirate. Ignorance was bliss.

Regis is how I wish to dress during late spring to early fall, but the sweat will just be too much for me.

...with a jet airplane whoosh right at the beginning to establish the change in location

helicopter shots of the beach with quick bursts of slow-motion...
