The What Are You Wearing Today (WAYWT) Discussion Thread, Part II - Page 1395

Thanks, @ghostface - any particular types/styles/brands I should check out? Been looking to augment my quite limited black footwear collection.

(also, rad fit).

God  Goodness I hate polos more than any one piece of clothing.   Oh and those stupid sneakers too..the worst

Can polos ever be cool? I feel like Lemaire maybe could do something cool with them. (Or has he? Wouldn't be surprised after his tenure at Lacoste.)

Eidos polos are cool.

The right cat can make a polo look cool.

Iv tried a few cool polo's (RRL & RL did a nice patchwork) but  most have that unflattering elastic cuff or the guaranteed collars becoming a vert ramp .  Nails on a chalk board man..nails on a chalk board

Not sure about his own label but he definitely did some oversized/elongated ones at Lacoste. Moderately loose fitting outfits are probably the easiest way to make polos work.

hmmm...i'm a fan of crepe-sole derbies, because they're really comfortable and because the sole has a thick profile. the apc's that i'm wearing in this most recent fit are crepe-soled, but they may be a bit too shiny for the stuff you normally wear.

i think the thicker sole is the most important thing, since it balances out proportions nicely with looser pants. maybe something like these?: http://www.nuji.com/product/19fdce56-0bd3-462c-83c7-5037979f55c4/a-p-c-ridge-sole-derby-shoes-black-tres-bien

they're basically nicer versions of docs, so maybe you could try docs and see how they suit you? or some of yuketen's suede derbies, since you're experienced with that label?

or something like these?: http://www.selectism.com/2013/09/05/a-fine-pair-of-pebble-grain-derby-shoes-from-churchs-two-colours/#slide-5

These are nice, don't think at all that they're too shiny for Cotton Dockers outfits.

I think people are unneccessarily afraid of shiny shoes, it's a cool contrast texture-wise to almost everything and doesn't necessarily need to be worn in a "dressy" outfit.
(I mean there are obviously dress-shoe connotations, but going against old/past connotations is not exactly an unusual thing to do in fashion)

You can also keep an eye out for "foot the coacher" stuff on yjp/rakuten, they do lots of cool footwear with thick soles.
