I probably should have mentioned that it's not the same knowing the rules of CM suits and choosing to break them than some guy breaking them because he's clueless.

I'm sure Lino Ieluzzi or Nick Wooster are very aware of the rules of CM formal fashion and could master them, but they purposely break them with their over the top fits (in those particular cases because they want to sell you their product or they want to sell themselves).

I'm sure you are one of those guys who know the rules. And I love your fits as much as anyone else in this forum, especially that fantastic last one you posted. I'm also pretty sure you wouldn't wear CCP tornadoes with a suit.

Sorry if I've derailed the thread, I won't take this conversation any further. And I don't think I've said anything offensive but if anyone has taken offense I apologize. My point: suits are not cool, suits are not uncool. They serve a purpose, just like a mechanic coverall serves a purpose: to dress accordingly to events of varying formality: work, wedding, funeral, a dinner at some embassy, whatever. And for such formal events there are some rules, whether we like it or not. And if you're going to break them, you better know what you're doing.
To be honest there are suits made to go with CCP tornadoes. Its all about aesthetics. You are correct that it would look off on say a suit from Canterelli. I am sure there is someone out there that can possibly pull that combo off but it is rarely advised. That is what I believe is the issue with some people at MC but instead they mix let's say John lobb with denim. Again I am sure there is someone out there that can do it with 110% swag meter but he needs to have mastered all 570 swag arts before he approaches such.

treating fashion as a freeform exercise with a spectrum of quality rather than an adherence to convention strikes me as an objectively better viewpoint, but ymmv

this is shuitsang and his girl getting married and it looks awesome

Mickey, a lot of the sw&d designers that we like (Paul Hardnan, CCP, Devoa, etc) make suits. Their suits are more suited for everyday life and not huge events like weddings but they can be pulled off. I don't think there is anything wrong with ccp boot and a suit or a lobb shoe and a suit. there are so many members here that pull off stuff that doesn't always go together, creativity is what allows rules to be broken. I do agree when people are clueless breaking rules it doesn't work.

Alas, i was allowed to share a few pics from a wedding via the office. I forgot about them until now because its very relevant to the topic. Groom is wearing all CCP

I don't disagree but that's like saying liberal is objectively better than conservative, an analogy is that impressionism (experiment) was objectively better than neoclassicism (convention).

And it's somewhat ironic that the last few pages of SZ's wawyt are actually as conservative as fashion gets while hiding behind whatever artisan progressive ethos they claim to uphold.

Guy in CCP suit looks terrible. Pants too skinny, horrid stacking, ugly ass shoes, single button, unbuttoned shirt. Yes I know its all intended and made by CCP but looks terrible

Two fits from this week

800

Burberry prorsum biker and SLP

IQHBJGc.jpg

Bespoke jacket from Davies & Son on Savile Row; berluti sweater; BBBF; Prorsum brogues

Prorsum jacket is 1-2 sizes too big. The unorthodox design + poor fit makes it look like a Goodwill bargain bin find. Doesn't mesh well with the super refined/tailored SLP aesthetic. Also jeans are too loose. Second pic all I have to say is that sweater makes you look like an uncircumsized penis.

OJSIMPSON, I am dying to see at least a single fit posted by you. From an expert on style and a fashion critic like you - I anticipate it to be close to perfection. When can we expect one?

Listen dude, you post once every few months and each post is pointless and negative. Lets keep in mind you are the same guy who was pawning off a ripped MMM 5zip to people as lightly worn. Your reputation here is quite unfavorable.

Don't expect anything, this guy is garbage.

To be honest I think SWD crowd probably make as many mistakes when dressing up for a wedding, work or whatever. Sometimes I see suits by SWD-approved designers linked from the 'should I buy' or similar threads that are just a no-no from a CM point of view. Single button jackets, extra slim lapels, things like that. But hey, they're from X designer, it must be good! I've even seen suits being worn with CCP tornadoes in here. Sorry but that's not how a suit should be worn and to me it's as bad as wearing jeans with some John Lobbs. You can't just SWD-ify or SZ-ify a suit.

IMO:
- Single button jackets are the best.
- Boots with a suit is pretty cool.
- Weddings are the perfect occasion to wear something a little bit different.
- Weddings are also the best time to be single.

read the last couple pages...

- sinnedk has bad opinions.
- suit talk puts me to sleep.
- ojsimpson knows his ****.

the idea that you need to post a fit in order to be able to formulate a valid opinion, or give valid criticism is ridiculous.
