Burst fracture i believe. They removed the vertabra and fused the spine there indeed. Really scary (especially as i know how easy it is to have something go wrong with back surgery) but I'm recovering well now. Am active and independent. Thanks for the kind words!

It's just a bit wet. It had been raining out and I just got home before taking the pic, but being pretty thin doesn't much help either.

And I'm actually in the process on revising and submitting a paper on burst fractures.
