Pant creases are dead but really?

This shows better contrast between the tie and jacket, but I stand by my comment about the pants and shoes. You need darker shoes (and a more refined shape while we're at it).

BTW, thanks, @edmorel, for articulating what's good about Scbrown's combo today. I gave it a thumb almost reflexively despite the "issues" you raised in your comments. It's a winning look.

Lol, I wore a jacket with a collar gap and too narrow trousers. Colour wise it wasn't all that bad though. Unfortunately, I don't think I've saved those pics.

Thanks for all the thumbs yesterday.

Anyway, a casual, Ivy-style combination today, again in the 'brown and blue' area: vintage, probably early 60s, jacket acquired via this forum from @330CK - this is the second bargain vintage jacket I've got hold of this year that fits almost perfectly without any alteration; BB ESF Oxford-stripe shirt; vintage 60s blue wool knit tie; cotton hank; cheap woven belt; Epaulet rivet chinos in moss green brushed cotton (which almost looks like flannel, but not quite close enough...), and (unseen) Carmina dark brown brogue boots. Apart from the trousers, the other slight issue I noted when I looked in the mirror was that the scale of the stripes on the shirt is almost exactly the same as the scale of the check on the jacket. But I think, since they are different patterns, I get away with it. I don't know: nto my best, but it will do.

Beautiful jacket.  It goes great with the pants.  The rise on the pants looks too low.  I wish the tie was wider.

I haven't posted on SF in awhile since I just started law school, but I thought a return was in order for fall.

Good to be back gents

Great look.  Love the burgundy.

You got my thumb for the colours and textures Sugarbutch, but to my eye both pants and sleeves look a tad long ? And perhaps a non solid shirt would improve the fit even further ?
I noticed the same thing about the pants when I saw the picture. I'll get them to the tailor for fixing. Sleeves could be taken up a bit, but the situation is exacerbated by my wearing one of my shirts which is on the shorter end of the spectrum. If I'd worn a more recent shirt, I think there would be some cuff showing. I would have liked this with my light blue university stripe, but I still like it with the solid. By the time I got around to getting dressed today, there wasn't any time to make revisions, so you're getting my first thought, so to speak.

I like it, Noodles. Is that a gray square?

Great jacket, FM, but I do agree it needs a little more trouser rise.

Sugarbutch, I like the combination. I need some cav twills/whipcords, and I need to learn the difference between cav twills and whipcords.

The shoes are great, too. I love that longwing/shortwing style. Are they shell?

Here's me, today:

Can't fit a sweater's sleeves under this coat. Trousers are charcoal.

That's awesome. I know a few of the folks in there are fans of the gray square. I have to admit, I wasn't totally sold, but your look today provided the example I needed.

For the Friday Challenge, and also as a way to explain my participation in the October NPC.  Jacket, shirt, and tie are all September purchases.
