I think garza grossa grenadines have enough texture that they effectively function as patterns (unlike, say, shantung--or other forms of texture like weaves for suits/SCs/trousers).  For me there's enough of a visible repeating pattern in a garza grossa that you couldn't pair it with a similar-size pattern in a shirt (like a gingham).

My guesses:

Tie and jacket color are neither close enough nor far enough apart. Shoes and pants are too close in color. Basically, it's blue on top, brown on bottom.

More blue and brown today. I wore this awesome vintage NOS guards coat into work, even though it is too warm for the current weather, because it's going to my alterations tailor to get the sleeves shortened (see spoilered pictures). Other deets: PRL (Made in Italy so probably Caruso?) suit, Conrad Wu raw silk tie, BB Golden Fleece short, Vintage mid-century Norwegian links and tie bar (a little too high in the spoilered picture, so now moved down...), vintage PS, worn with (unseen black C&J Hallams).

Other pictures showing current coat fit and details of suit & tie (Click to show)

My father left me almost the exact same overcoat as the above Camel coat in pic 1 and 3. Probably from the 60's from Beau Brummel Forest Hills, NY....Do you think it's possible to take a coat like that in maybe 4-5 inches in the chest/torso to fit me? He was sort of barrel chested and alas I am not...

Thanks

Cheers. Today or yesterday?

Large-weave grenadines are a texture, not a pattern. Sorry, heldentenor, but fiddlesticks to you.

Here's me trying to look like I don't give a shit, in Martin Square on this beautiful Sydney afternoon.

I like most parts but the tie is too shiny for me.
