Love the dandyish trousers, Monkeyface.

Had to be on campus today for a "Family Day" panel, which gave me an excuse to break out a new flannel sportcoat.

There's nothing wrong with that, but it's just not en vogue at the moment, hence the lack of thumbs. I quite like the British style if it's done well, but for some reason the lapels with the downward notches always look a bit sad and droopy to me.

There's really nothing like being told that actually there's 'nothing wrong' with your beautiful and perfectly fitting bespoke suit by someone whose yellow trousers clearly demonstrate just how en vogue they are... :sarcasm:

Dude, all I was saying is that SF in general prefers the Italian style at the moment, but that you shouldn't worry about that or the lack of thumbs, because there's nothing wrong with your suit at all. I don't see how you can misinterpret that as an attack, as I clearly stated I quite liked your suit. Anyways, I believe you were the one that was complaining about not getting enough internet points, while I on the other hand have never said that I was en vogue or was always trying to adhere to the SF style.

It's fun to experiment once in a while, lest we start taking ourselves too seriously. After some helpful feedback from Tweedy and the others, I now know that it's a hard look to pull off, but it can be done with the right footwear. I do think off-white trousers are the optimal choice for this jacket, with light grey being a good second choice, and these butter ones being a distant third.

TL;DR: Don't get your panties all up in a bunch over internet points.

I would have preferred dark brown suede chukkas with that look.

Not the best picture, but it'll do for now!

I suspect it might be a bit of both. Here's another shot of the same suit. I'm keen to hear your opinions as it is MTM and I can probably lower the gorge on my next purchase if required.

It looks great, but I would probably lower it 1cm or so.

So how was bobby's? Did you get anything? I love that place! I should stop in and get something there.

Just a nice pair of braces (what you'd call suspenders - NOS) and an old silk square. He had some lovely stuff in but not much in my size at the moment. Bobby's a lovely guy too, although he's not in the best of health these days and things seem to be being run almost entirely by his cadre of assistants.

If you think it's about 'points', you've not got the, err, point at all. But you're right in one respect at least - it doesn't matter.
