Ahh... a new second hand Canali jacket just arrived in the mail. Good stuff, perfect autumn colour. Combined here with a micro checkered Corneliani shirt in white and light purple, peachy silk tie by Zegna, a white cotton square. Brown leather belt, Brooks Brothers chinos, cream Viccel socks, and brown suede shoes by Moreschi.

^ I feel like that would be from a horror movie.

That looks like a very rare occurrence when a white square doesn't work, although the colors are a bit hard to read. My sense is the tie is not working with the jacket.

I'd dial back the complexity there and just go with a light blue solid shirt and an earth tone tie- light brown to green to navy and a cream square

I see that you are pretty new so I'll give you a few tips.

Check out the Working Heirarchical Suit Thread and take a look at the brands to get an idea of quality SportsCoats/Suits

For Trousers Howard Yount,Panta,Brooks Brothers and Epaulet are some of the well known quality Trousers around here. I am personally a fan of Brooks Brothers(at least 1818 and not outlet) trousers.

For Shirts Charles Tyrwhitt,Brooks Brothers, and Kumakara are some of the popular shirt brands

Nice Tie by the way :slayer:

Good Luck and keep posting.

Cheers,

Points taken. My latest post should make you happy then. And the cream OTC socks arrived, so now I can match them to my chinos. You were right – it looks awesome!

It should be said that 90% of what I wear is thrifted, so I just buy whatever looks interesting and fits well. None of it costs a fortune, so I can afford to try out a lot of stuff. It's a fine way to learn and make mistakes. The outfit you refer to cost me $60 total, so I'm happy as a pig in dirt. Although the crotch creases in those linen chinos are super annoying. The jury is still out on those.

I wouldn't choose a Boss suit these days, but some of their shirts are good enough for me – at the $2-$8 I normally pay for them. I liked the collar on this yellow one – it reminds of the ones they wear in the Goodfellas scene where they go through everybody's nicknames in the bar.

I've read through many pages of guides and lists here on SF and elsewhere, and if I were buying everything at retail prices, I'd know much more about where to go and what to look for than I used to. An article by A. Dirnelli led me to one of my few new purchases so far – a Corneliani sports jacket with a heavy discount. It's very helpful to read some qualified evaluations of different brands and makers.

Agreed on the BB pants. The chinos I have are of very high quality. I have also added pants by PT01 and Incotex to my wardrobe – both of which are also excellent.

My style strategy is to be colourful and not boring in any way, and I don't mind taking chances and breaking style "rules". My dress code is not mandated by my work, so it's strictly a personal choice.

Yeah, sorry. I had to make my dog pose in my outfit while I was working the camera. I need to train him better, so we can switch places.

True. The white square hasn't done me any service today. I should have gone squareless. Better luck tomorrow.

In my eyes, the tie goes well with the dark brown. I hear your colour suggestion, but I'm also desperately hanging on to the last notion of summer. Hence the frisky tie.

Thanks.  Suit is WW Chan, but it wasn't made for me--I'm just the lucky beneficiary of being about the same size as a couple of other Styleforum guys.

You really hit the jackpot. I swear it's the first time I have ever seen you in a full suit, and you go Full Three-Piece. icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif
