I concluded it doesn't bother me at all, unlike having a jacket inch too long, which bothers me a lot.

Nice!

I don't see that this breaks any rule, but I really like it.

What all this mumbo-jumbo about brown, I just wonder if I can leave for office in these shoes or should use galoshes...

I haven't seen "Conspiracy". A good friend in Shanghai once told me that his favourite piece of classical music was the one featured in Kubrick's "Barry Lyndon". Oh, I said, that's the slow movement from Schubert's Piano Trio in E flat, and we're performing it next week. He was thrilled to hear this news. "I'm definitely coming to that!"

And come he did. He arrived fifteen minutes before the scheduled start. Unfortunately it was a full house and they wouldn't let him in!

I had a more prosaic understanding of "play" in mind (putting on a Bruno Walter recording or something like that)--though I'd love to think I will merit a full orchestral sendoff!

For my sendoff, I believe that "play" would be the push of a button, playing a recording of Janet Baker singing Dido's Lament from Purcell's "Dido and Aeneas", followed by Regine Crispin singing, "O, ma lyre immortelle" from Gounod's "Sapho", and, to bring the mourners gently out of their funk, the trio "Soave sia il vento" from "Cosi fan Tutte".
