@upr and @luger best fits I have seen this week. I am partial to lavender tones without overdoing it and you both accent perfectly.

While its said that the ridged shape of the "optimo" (classic panama) shape originated from rolling the hats into a tube, that it a horrible thing to do to a good quality panama. Poor quality panamas, if they have a sweatband that allows you to roll it will crack and disintegrate if you roll them. High quality panamas, because the fibers are more flexible, will stand up to rolling better, but why on earth would you spend (potentially) hundreds of dollars on a hat only to abuse it so?

As for crushability, all I can say is that my Monticristi was all but destroyed by the TSA when I flew to London a couple of weeks ago. It was removed from the tray it was in to go through the x-ray machine and wound up crushed between two of the plastic trays. It regained its shape, but the straw is broken in multiple places. It will hold together for a little while, but not for very long.

Today's combination is only a bit less eye-searing than yesterday's, but at least in a somewhat more conventional color scheme.

Tie - Charvet
Cufflinks - BB
PS - Ashear

I don't dispute that you can roll some panamas, nor that some are made to be rolled. Indeed, both Lock & Co and Bates, in London, will sell you a "panama" (more likely a cuenca) rolled up in a tube. However, my point is that only the Optima shape can be rolled and only if it has a fabric sweatband, and even so, the hat will quickly begin to deteriorate and fall apart at the point of the hat (the very top and middle of the crown). The more expensive the hat, the more rolling your panama is a bad idea. And Fedora-shaped hats cannot be rolled at all.
