Until today.

Lovely jacket too - is it OTR or MTM? Can't say I've heard of Calder Official - only the Calder Cannons.

Thank you! I didn't know whether to post this here or in the casual thread. Glad you like it. The jacket is MTM and there's more information about Calder Official here. This is one of the first and I'm really happy with the result.

I'm sure there is and I'm mostly of that mind as well but in this case, I was inspired by Jason Jules in the Drake's AW15 lookbook:

What the ?  I've got 8 shots in a row of Acute wearing  a neat tie, chambray shirt, a DB SC and fun socks  -   none of which should ever be seen with any of the others in the same outfit.   facepalm.gif

I just finished teaching combinatorics. There are 4C4 + 4C3 + 4C2 = 11 ways for me to wear two or more of these four items together. You didn't state the reason you disliked them, but I'm guessing it's because of the clash of formal and casual. I imagine on a scale of formality it would go DB jacket, neat tie, fun socks and then chambray shirt. I get that there's a range here, but what's wrong with wearing a DB with a neat tie or fun socks with a chambray shirt? In all honesty, I'm quite fine wearing all four together. The colors and textures work for me and I consider that the most important thing.

:teach:  Neat ties r for suits, not SCs.  Surely you know that.   Sadly it's getting to a point where this is a convention more honoured in the breach than in the observance, particularly in these pages, but to me this is an instant red flag.

A navy DB with brass buttons is quite formal, as u acknowledge, and a chambray is not: too casual for a suit, and too casual for a neat or imo any tie.  Fun socks don't go with anything. I could've included those bit loafers, which are both informal and  FU, but they're okay with the shirt.

I see.  I'm familiar with the military roots of navy DB gold button jackets.  I was not aware of the neat tie being for suits only however.  I have no intention of abiding by that rule, but would be curious to hear about the origins of that rule if there is one.  Lastly, I suspect that the last three posters have outrageously fun socks on, but sadly none of them are showing sock.  I don't see that many socks in general around here.

This is very nice.  Great looking jacket.  I hope that isn't a hole in the bottom of that patch pocket.  I wish the shirt was a white or blue uni stripe OCBD.

Thanks! Definitely not a hole, just the shadows :)

As for the shirt, there is always next time :)

You doubt me? I'm deeply i-offended.  As to origins, AFAIK it's lost in the mists of sartorial antiquity.

Best use of denim with a tie I've seen in a long, long time. Superb SC too!
