Interestingly, I love the fit, except the shoes there.  Am I the only one that sees black chelseas as incongruent there?  Just seems like brown oxfords/derbies/loafers would be much better there.

Hey there. They're a small, local (I'm from Singapore) tailoring outfit. Lusso Tailors.

They're pretty new and so don't really have a big online following or huge social media following so that name will probably not ring a bell.

But they're just nice guys who run a humble, honest business.

Thanks very much!

That truly means a lot, coming from someone who is a far better dresser than myself.

You're right though, I obsess about shoes quite a lot!

Hey there. I do agree, I'd probably only wear black chelseas with more formal outfits.

But these chelseas are brown museum calf. Granted, they do a look a little dark in the picture.

My apologies for poor photo representation of the shoe color.

Here's what they actually look like.

No need to apologize!  My photos don't hold a candle to the ones you posted.  I really like brown museum calf, so i wish i could see it.  Thanks for clarifying and as others have said, great post.

Interesting point on the contrast... for my own edification, does the texture differences negate some of the lack of contrast in shade?

Absolutely.   That was one of the reasons I said "other factors being equal."

Along with light/dark contrast, contrasts of other sorts such as surface pattern, texture, shape, and color all contribute to object recognition and to what's called “perception time”—the amount of time it takes the brain to identify something.

Perception of contrast diminishes with distance; certain of these persist more over greater distances than others.

Cheers,

Ac

Ac2, I really like the jacket, but it feels a lot more casual than the items you wore with it.

Not really, and for the same reason -- the difference between the two materials is just not that visually apparent.

I can't think of a lot of cases where wearing two textures of same or very similar colour works, with a few extreme exceptions (i.e. a black leather jacket with black denim).
