Mixing seasons - autumn layers and a textured silk tie:

(Lardini jacket, Woolovers vest, Borrelli shirt, Vanda Fine Clothing tie, self-dyed indigo square, Corneliani trousers, Carmina shoes)

It is again raining in NYC, and cold, and I'm tired from a long week, so you're getting a rehash of last Friday's attire, with the addition of a waistcoat (this week's Friday Challenge - odd waistcoat with non-matching jacket and trousers). Not original, not especially creative, but sufficient to face raindrops.

Jacket, trousers, shirt, waistcoat - BB
Tie - PRL
PS - Drake's, from the Armoury, NYC
Shoes - Finsbury, Paris

That shirt collar is terrible. The blazer might be ok, though the right sleeve is way too short. Your tie appears to have a large crease in it as well.

It's because of a crease that the right sleeve appears to be too short. Thanks for the comment.

'I have a slightly different point of view on the matter.

I agree that "rules" are a great help for any begginers, and since we're not begginers anymore, we should be able to bend them, or simply discard them. (…)

Just visiting, but all this discussion about rules/breaking rules is very interesting. Reminds me of the Japanese concept of Shu (hold/respect), Ha (break), Ri (leave).

This concept is very important in martial arts and in traditional disciplines (like tea ceremony). They are the three degrees of mastery. First follow exactly the rules, then break them, and finally, create and adapt to the circumstances.

There's no getting around it: that's a beautiful jacket.

I'm wearing a tie, at least, but it's a gloomy cloudy day today and I'm trying out my new @CraftsmanCo jacket. So, I'm posting here even though this is not, technically, classic menswear.

I also want to take a moment and thank everyone for all the thumbs over the last couple of weeks.

Opening day at the track and our first day of 80 degree weather. Couldn't ask for a better congruence of circumstance.

Good looking fit for the weather. I like your hat. I think, though, maybe a white shirt would be a better choice, as the two blues seems slightly at odds.
