HOF: What Are You Wearing Right Now - Part IV (starting May 2014) - Page 2396

For starting the week, after a hard weekend, in which I've been arrested by the intergallactic sartorial police (after having breaked to many rules an arrest warrant was issued, fortunately, i've been able to corrupt this two agent with two nice pocket squares :

I grin and bear it. Actually I attempt to adopt a demeanor that projects an air of "it's 6pm, somewhere, dammit". I have found that no one raises an eyebrow, at least not to my face.

But the situation is rare.

@bienluienapris Nice, but the PS stands out too much. You must go directly to jail.

Thank you! The tie is Panta but I'm not sure where Ed got the fabric from.

@TheoProf I've come to really dislike cotton chinos with anything but the most casual of jackets. Especially with tweed, the texture is seriously mismatched. That jacket needs flannel trousers, or something like that. The red tie is simply too much here. The low contrast between the jacket and trousers makes an already garish tie stand out even more. Obligatory statement: Your clothes don't fit well.

Jeeze. I for one wear chinos all the time with my jackets. I will say that I wish theoprof's chinos were creased (and ideally cuffed). I also tend to do dress twills more than chinos, however, I think the chino (especially, ahem, creased and cuffed) is a favorable option in the Ivy league look prof is going for.

Hello, by the way.

agreed. lately, the only time i feel comfortable wearing a jacket with chinos is with an unlined cotton casual SC. even then I avoid a tie.

So, it's, like, personal preference. In full disclosure, I also wear corduroy trousers (cuffed and creased), and from time to time, 5-pocket cords and 5-pocket tan or white jeans with my sport coats and blazers.

For the record, the trews are moleskin. I don't agree that the Brooks Brothers #1 repp is garish. I don't believe that the pants and jacket are too low in contrast. I completely agree that the sack jacket needs some waist suppression and BB collar roles make me sad.

Monday's usual classic outfit: navy + bottle green + brown.

One of my favorite combinations!

i wouldnt say its personal preference at all. Theres a number of fabrics and jackets that wouldnt work with chinos. Just as theres a number of sportcoats that wouldnt work with flannel trous.

Interesting. I would. To say that chinos shouldn't be worn with jackets denies the whole Ivy league look canon back many a decade. It would be aboutt as presumptous of me to say that mossrocks' clothes don't fit because to me, to my eye, his jacket is too small and his pants are too low-waisted and tight (which I know is fashionable, but that in itself makes it not necessarily right).
