I generally don't like a bright tie/PS as the only contrast pieces to an otherwise plain fit, but you seem to make everything you wear look good.

You're very kind. FWIW, I think you make everything you wear look good as well.

Without over-analyzing (and I may be talking nonsense here), the slight sheen of the plain suit fabric together with the lack of sheen in the colourful wool/silk square and wool tie might serve to balance things out whiletThe high shine on the shoes helps as well. Ultimately, though, I didn't consciously think of any of that when I put this outfit together but went with my gut feel as to what would work.

That's an interesting take on it. I'm sure a myriad of unconscious things go into the overall effect of a fit and the matte tie and PS are certainly a good choice here. The last fit I posted takes somewhat of a similar path. The suit fabric has a very slight sheen to it and the tie is a dusty matte color. I think it works well, although I may not have put it into words until I read what you posted.

My brass was always polished.

SF sure is an interesting forum. Everything is nice, stylish and polite and then you check in after a few hours again and you have people in their underwear and peak lapels, jokes about lesbians and everybody slinging feces everywhere.

I tried that with my last tailor. i had ONE simple request. and that was to have BUTTONS with FRICKIN LASER BEAMS shooting from the buttons. Best i could find were mutated horn buttons that were mildly ill tempered.

I'm honestly surprised no one has made an Iron Man joke yet.

I tried using poisonous scarabs as buttons once but the damn bugs never stopped moving about so it was impossible to button the jacket. I had to walk around with an unbuttoned jacket like some kind of goddamn hippie.

Derek, I like it but I wish the shirt had more texture.

A comparison of the brass buttons on a Brooks Brothers blue blazer and on a railroad conductor's uniform........

(No "Train Wreck" comments, please.  Some of us know what a train wreck looks like and have never seen anything posted in this thread that even looks like a minor derailment.)
