They're perfectly within their rights to express their opinions, as are you perfectly within you rights to ignore the crap out of them. Personally, I've not read either dressedwell or filmnoirbuff in years, and feel no loss at not having partaken.

AFAIK nobody has

Why? Subway stations can have great acoustics.

I'm seriously thinking of lobbing over to Museum station once a week with my cello and a stool and playing a Bach suite. There's an ideal area for it there, a little corner jutting out from a high-traffic area.

Busking without a licence is illegal so I might put up a little sign saying:

I DON'T WANT YOUR MONEY

and another sign on the other side of me saying:

I WANT YOUR EARS

Please do. And maybe have your camera assistant take some video to share with those of us without ready access to Museum Station.

Dunno about the Hoodoos, but I would definitely include The Church -

...The Monochrome Set -

...and of course, the ultimate jangly-pop 80s band: The Cure.

OK, that's enough groops.

It's so beautiful you made my want a suit like that as well. Is this a linen blend or full linen? I assume there's some linen in it from the crumples.

Mate I was in the adoring front row for the latter two. I don't think The Smiths ever toured Aus so certainly I missed them. Loved the others.

I met Robert Smith once, in about 1982 or 1983. He was in the audience for some other band's gig at the Jump Club on Smith Street. James Freud, a local Melbourne muso, was hanging with him. They were both wearing Brando leathers and both had spikey black hair and kohl eyeliner.

I recognised Smith but couldn't pick Freud, who had spent some time in London and picked up a faux-Cockney accent as a (deliberate) result. They seemed so similar. I chatted a bit to them.

Robert must have asked me what I was listening to. I replied that lately I was really admiring Public Image Ltd.

"Oh", Smith opined. "I'm bigger than John Lydon these days."

What a fucking prat of a man.

But yeah, I love The Cure.

EDIT: and they seem to be putting up on their thread loads of pics from here. Almost seems like they have some vendetta against SF.

The denizens of both dressedwell and filmnoirbuff, are, in the main, people who have been banned from SF (or from AskAndy, or both sites), and have thus created their own cyberworld, in which they take their revenge upon those who have cast them out, or they pick upon those they sense are weak or vulnerable to their attempts at sardonic humor (or just plain bile). I am told that there are active members here who also post "over there" - for what reason I cannot imagine.

The most notable thing about their propensity for posting photos from here is that they are, as a group, quite loathe to post photos of themselves, having neither the courage, the honesty, the balls, or, quite frankly, the style to do so.

That pretty much sums it up, imho. I am quite a regular target for their derision - which is just fine, as i do find some of their "critiques" highly entertaining. Best way to deal with that is knowing they´re out there and still not giving a single fuck about their opinion. Or to put it in a painting of sorts:
