Oh thanks! I shouldn't fuss so much really, they do have free shipping both ways. I'll know in 2 minutes if it works for me, and it costs nothing to find out.

But I love this Soho so much I'd really be sad to see the cut go. Less and less Sohos and more and more Madisons in the catalog these days. Sand linen Soho would be fantastic, but I think a green linen Havana is in the sights first.

(You should also definitely get a tripod. They're useful for many things besides taking pictures of what you are wearing. I've owned mine for about 2 years. And I've used it for anything from taking pictures of what I'm wearing to taking pictures of what I'm wearing.

But seriously @Claghorn , I see your point. I do have a barrel of tripods—USC film school did teach me something—what I often don't have is one more minute to devote to internet style-foolishness in a day than I already do.

Either that, or I'm just lazy.

I promise to make an occasional effort with the tripod. But I still have a good deal of ambivalence towards the robopose. I totally understand that this is a detail-oriented crowd, that's a large part what we come here for, and the robopose helps evaluate fit in detail.

What it does not help evaluate is elegance. It is literally impossible to look or feel elegant while deliberately impersonating a robot. Myself personally, I can tell whether one is showing an acceptable amount of cuff while one is slumped down on the train with one's arm across the seat back. If you're sitting down and your jacket is 3" too big around the waist in a boxy, unflattering line, I can kinda tell. If your shoulder is cut too wide, I can definitely tell.

I can pretty much tell if a fit is acceptable in any depiction, unless people want to go swatting at volleyballs in a cyclone or something.

The key word is "acceptable." I'm not your tailor. Whether the cuff is 1/2" up or down is not important to me. I assume the two sleeves are even; I promise to believe you if you say so. Some here are searching for that kind of advice. You know: less waist suppression? More waist suppression? I really get that. I don't look at a robopose and think, what an idiot.

But myself, what I'm looking for within that range of acceptability is the hundred other things that make style and elegance.

Fit is important. But how the jacket pulls up when I'm lifting a camera is part of the fit as well. With CM I do make an effort to have at least one standing pose, and rassle the camera around as little as possible. My chair poses are deliberately slouchy because I am trying to show how the garment lives. (On a LAZY PERSON.)

Seriously though, if a beautiful girl looks at me with her eyebrow cocked or her nose wrinkled up, I don't think "my heavens, I wonder if this person is totally ugly. I'll have to wait for a perfectly neutral expression to find out." I mean, I know what a beautiful girl looks like generally. I've seen a lot of them. What this one looks like with her nose wrinkled up may be part of the fun.

And I hope I didn't come off as nasty or hostile. I was poking a little fun at you, yes, but more at my own sloppy manspreading poses and my near-unhealthy love of all things Eames.

All valid points, fox. And I believe I speak for many here when I say I admire your style. It's just that we feel uncomfortable staring at your crotch.
