I am a troll that knows no hate, except a few who are lurking. Yes, you guys.

Just one man's opinion, but these cardigans have been the element that undermines your recent fits.

In what way?  The colors are off?  Too long?  The extra layer is just too much?

Your cardigans have been fine. It's the shirt/tie combos that cause the problems. The last fit was good, though. In an unconventional kind of way, of course.

Again in what way?  Blue OCBD bengal stripe and red regimental.  Purple gingham and green grenadine.  White OCBD and navy knit polka dot.  Bengal stripe and large neat.  Pink gingham and wide navy striped grenadine.  Any details will be much appreciated.

Major pattern and color clashing in some cases. You are daring, and there is such thing as a good clash. Many times you achieve that, but sometimes you don't. In the cases where it doesn't work they are both fighting for attention and I don't know which one is the focal point. Your cardigans actually tone things down most of the time. They are solid and generally not garish. The purple didn't work simply for the Joker vibe it gave me, but other than that I've liked what you have been putting out.

Not trying to be difficult, but I'd love some particular examples.  I've actually been trying to decrease the number of patterns and colors I use in a given fit from Pliny's advice.  Tuesday was navy, gray and burgundy.  Wednesday was camel, navy and gray.  Thursday was purple, green and navy.  Friday was a departure of course.  Last week, I wore three outfits that were all solids.  Any targeted advice is helpful.

Edit: Other than the purple.

No difficulty at all. I don't want to be mistaken though, I have really liked your latest batch for the most part. I was only saying that when you do have problems it is usually most easily fixed by changes in the shirt and/or tie. Obviously you know about the difficulties with the one on Friday (if it's the one I'm thinking of). This fit here also typifies the problem that you are having less and less. Replace the tie here with a solid navy knit, or something with some texture, and this is a winner. Admittedly navy might be too much of a contrast for some people on a fit like this, but for a summery look I think it works fine. @Pliny has done you well and your consistency has been pretty good IMO. You know, even as I type this I kind of hope that you will take everyone's advice (including mine) with a grain of salt because I really don't want to change you. You make things exciting in an otherwise rather boring thread. I also think that generally if you need to qualify what you are wearing with an explanation then you have made bad choices. Just something I like to keep in mind.
