Stitchy likes another man's balls. Is anyone surprised?

MF, that is a cool shirt, had it not been a popover. Cool pattern, nonetheless.

don't know that suit fabric weave RoyAl- looks interesting

It's a Holland & Sherry, the jacket is MTM from Whitcomb & Shaftesbury, but the trousers are from Manning & Manning, also MTM.

It was an experiment after a funny idea that seemed good at that time; let one tailor make the jacket and an other the trousers. It took me far and wide, and will not do again. I initially wanted Tom Mahon to make the jackets for two MTM-suits, but it turned out that he had not the time, and recommended me Whitcomb & Shaftesbury.
I had these two tailors make me suits of both the grey I wore yesterday and the blue below.

The weather in NYC will be very warm and humid today, so I'll not be wearing the waistcoat, but I was interested in seeing the difference the waistcoat made to the overall look. Forgive the glut of photos.

[...]

True story, à propos three- vs. two-piece suits, and how folks ‘on the street’ react to the distinction.

Once I was wearing a three-piece suit and a guy at an airport security checkpoint asked me if I was a college professor (which of course I am). Later the very same day I was at a department store wearing the same suit but without the vest and a salesperson asked me if I was a lawyer.

That said, none of my vests are double-breasted. In your case I’m guessing people think you’re British royalty but are too intimidated to ask …

I found your story very droll indeed, but must confess that I've never been accused of being a part of the British royal family (though I believe I may actually be very, very distantly related to the current Duke of Cambridge, through his late mother's family, though I equally believe that one might need to go back to the Plantagenets in order to find common ancestors).

As for initimidation, it doesn't stop fellow shoppers at Brooks Bros. from addressing me as the sales help.

Well, they're probably just asking the best-dressed man in the room for advice. Makes sense.

Thanks for the comments, guys. It's certainly a little out there, but that's what makes it fun. The whole outfit has a bit of a retro 60s/70s vibe to it. The high rise brown duck canvas trousers and the tucked in patterned popover work well with my vintage sports watch, tortoise shell shades, beard and relatively classic hard parted and tapered hair cut. It's not an everyday look, but it's nice to do something different once in a while. It's nowhere the crazy stuff I used to wear in my streetwear days though.
